H&R Block, by and large, contracts out horrible horrible EAs & CPAs. My experience dealing with some of these jokers has not been good. The people I contacted about various returns could not tell me why they prepared the returns the way they did nor could they provide the source documentation for the amounts used in the returns. They were also rude and pretty unwilling to help in any way. People who have their tax returns done at H&R Block definitely get what they pay for.
I'd have to agree with you there. H&R Block is a joke, most people can do their taxes online for free, sometimes with free Federal AND state filing! Whenever I see all that tax software at the store I just laugh.
I can't prepare a tax return for less than $300. Seriously. Hence why Turbo Tax for $50 and the like are so appealing. That and a lot of people have returns that are just complicated enough that the free online stuff doesn't cut it.
I went to H&R Block to get my taxes done and the lady helping me was incompetent. Now granted I'm in Florida and I was asking her to help me with my Michigan/Indian taxes, but the lady had no f**king clue what she was doing! After a while I just told her to stop, I would do my own research at home and call them if I needed to make an appointment. I went home and after 2 minutes on the Inidana and Michigan state websites, found the forms I needed. Can't believe I was gonna give them money to do something I could've figured out myself.
H & R block is good for the people who are too dumb to do the ez form. I sure as hell don't envy my brother-in-law. He had stacks and stack of paper on his dining table. That will take a couple weeks. I just have my investment guy handle my taxes. He does a good job, and I usually put the return straight into my IRA anyway.
Yup, pretty much. To put it in a slightly more technical way, if you've got a W-2 and a Sch B, H&R Block is the way to go.
They charged us $20 for doing e-file when it was supposed to be free. We met all the qualifications needed, and have filed this way the past several years for free no problem. Not this year for some reason. I contacted them about it and they told me I didn't register at the correct site or some BS. It's not like I registered again this year, I just used my account I've been using the last couple of years. I have no intention of paying the $20 they put on my card.
I just got my return from TurboTax... It was pretty easy just using that... Hey drippy, if I weren't to use TurboTax, what would you suggest???
