Aright folks, I've posted photos of this here and there on the site, but since a thread popped up and we were given the okay to post it I figured i'd post photos of it here: This is my Gurren Lagann costume rig being made for the cons Ikkicon, Anime Matsuri, and A-kon here in texas it is made out of Funfoam, tons of hot glue and modgepodge and spray paint. it is currently roughy 60% done i'd say (the arms are on their way to being fully built but no photos yet) A good friend of mine, NatsumeRyu off seibertron and transcostumers, is helping me build this, she also designed the 3d model that is being used to make this (the final picture is what the costume should roughly look like when done) Shout out to MiraiBaby and Velocity and NatsumeRyu, the ones who inspired this costume to become a reality EDIT: 4 NEW PHOTOS HAVE BEEN POSTED!
nice wanted to do this one with a friend, I would be gurren and he would hold a lagann and we would combine at any time and the head would peg into my suit on top and armor pieces would partsform magnet wise,
Thanks for all the comments! the jetpack is not planned, because i'm already gonna be 7 foot tall in this thing but its not 100% ruled out drills haven't been figured out but we for sure want a giant drill
for drills you could probably use lightweight foam aand cardboard. That would allow for suitable lage size but still able to be handled
I can imagine it now... A seven foot tall Gurren Lagann Walking around a convention with Mega Drill Break out.
Here are some more updated images, he is almost done, some last minute details to be done, main construction left is his chest glasses and his hip panels, he will make his debut at Ikkicon this coming weekend in Austin
.. Err... Well, at least Takaratomy made both of us happy campers with the release of Rumble/Frenzy Lagann!
The completed costume picture is on page 1! went in with my gurren lagann cosplay group and we won a Judges award at ikkicon, so yay!
