How do you prefer them? Handheld like in many fictions or as part of the 'Bot or 'Con like in the movies and Prime?

It actually depends on the bot, the universe, and the weapon.

I like a good mixture. Some are hand-held, some are transformable.

Like in the movies, we have guys like Bee, Ratchet and Starscream who just shift them out, and guys like Optimus, DOTM Megs and the Dreads who have hand-helds :)

    I agree with this.

I'd like it if Autobots were less likely to have integrated weapon systems, because most of them don't want to be war machines.

It depends on the bot and the weapon, really.

Also, I don't really like Autobots having actual guns and stuff. Stingers, modified welding torches, rivet guns, and energy bows, maybe, but not actual guns.

Mixed, but with a heavier concentration of handhelds.

This. A like some hand-held rifles and swords, but built-in guns and swords are cool too; even better when you have both methods used.

I'd like to see more of an emphasis placed on other built-in "appliances" (for the lack of a better term). One of the many reasons why I love TFA is that the Autobots - a rag-tag group of construction workers - used built-in tools as weapons later on. Electro-magnets, zapping welders, grappling hooks, wrecking balls, etc.. Construction tools, but when they were forced to use them as weapons, they did.

It never bothered me too much, but one of the main detractors for hand-held weapons, for me, at least, is the question of "where do they put them"? Built-in weapons like TFP and certain movieverse and BW characters aren't a big deal because providing you have your arms intact, you have your weapon. But G1? RID? Unicron Trilogy? Having that 12 foot rifle is great and all, but where do you store it for the other 95% of the time when you're not using it? It magically appears when a battle starts. Like I said, it won't ruin the show for me, but looking back to some of those series, it does make me chuckle.

I prefer weapons like FoC Shockwave or Movie Wreckage where you can alternate, and they can actually store somewhere in alt mode (if not actually be an actual part of the alt).

I also prefer to have more weapons than basic swords or guns that wouldn't look out of place in real life.

I don't like the morphing weapons. I don't mind having attached weapons or handheld, but having the arm morph into the weapon just isn't my bag. Being disarmed should always be a potential threat to face on the battlefield, and having the weapon systems just sprout out means that only death could disarm a Cybertronian. It's pretty much the only bitch I have about WFC/FOC

Like other people are saying, depends on the bot and weapon.

If I was a giant robot, that can modify itself, in the middle of an all out war hell yeah I would have guns sticking out of my hands.

In fact my guns would have guns. And my handheld guns would have guns. And my altmode would be a giant gun...that has guns.

    In short I like both.

Death, or quite literally 'disarming' them.

G1 Prowl's comment reminded me of the Mexican Standoff scene in DOTM.

The Dreads drop their pistols nice and calmly, avoiding any crazy shooting- And then pull out spike spear things from their backs and stab poor Ironhide.

I would love a similar scene like that in another media, where a 'Con or a pragmatic Autobot loses their hand-held weapon and fakes surrender, only to ambush the unsuspecting foe with a built-in weapon :D

I would like for the Autobots main armaments to be handheld with having smaller guns being integrated. While Decepticons should have full integration

Depends on the bot. I like scouts to have built in weapons. Ninja/stealth to have hand melee weapons like swords or throwing knives. Heavy to have a built in rifle and the heavy weapon be hand held. Mixed weapons depends.

    Handheld. Or armor mounted.

I love integrated weapons. Even if bots aren't war machines to start with, millions of years of war could easily change that, and transforming hand weapons I would think would be a given. Though sprinkling in handhelds is not a bad idea. I prefer shoulder/arm/ect mounted integrated weapons to actual transforming hands.
