To be honest, after the giant flight packs of Strike, Freedom and Justice, I didn't mind a more 'simpler' SEED protagonist mobile suit to change things up a bit. I tend to think of Red Frame Astray as being more like a ninja in comparison. The most important thing for me was it's sword.

(also unlike Strike, Red Frame Astray doesn't necessarily seem incomplete without it's flight pack, (IMO)).

but freedom, s.freedom, wing zero ew have their wings which I think those plastic material contents can already form a red frame's flight unit.

Yeah, but I could see it. Depending on what they don't include with the astray, I could also see it being paired with the big red sword gun thing, give it a backpack, and there it's 40 bucks.

Like, they thought the rex was 40 bucks. Maybe he is, but the only things he really has is a giant mace and slightly larger body arguably. 40 bucks.

Astray with big sword and backpack? I could see 40 bucks

That's probably closer to the truth - perhaps one of the ronin.

But I was more familiar with ninjas than samurai in my younger days. I also kind of thought of Astray Red Frame as being a bit more 'low profile' than some of the other SEED 'hero' mecha. I still think it's one of the coolest designs, though.

Well if they will make Blue Frame they better include that convertible back pack.
It's gonna be crime if they straightly repainted the GU Red Frame and just replace the sword with a rifle.

Yeah. a crime. the way they released GU Strike without it's Aile Back Pack.
The Strike is close associated with it's flight pack. Bandai/Tamashii Nation screwed it up.

Meanwhile they bother to release big box of Sazabi and 00 Gundam + 0 Raiser.

    And all the other variants..

But wouldn't be surprised if the Blue Frame backpack doesn't transform.

That would probably be the first version.. Or perhaps a P Bandai variant.. And we'd probably get a similar Gold Frame as well.

And, of course, as long they're not P Bandai, I'd still get them. (I've lost track of how many Astray models I brought over the years. I even ended up making customs).

I would like them to include the classic shield for the original 'basic' versions, though.

And going by Gundam Universe Unicorn Gundam, we could potentially get some of the more popular remolds/recolour, later.
I'm really hoping they release the Striker packs as add-on sets. They've done that with other figures..

I think originally Bandai tried to keep the GU figures below a certain price point, but started to get a little more ambitious later.

But yeah, Strike looks kind of incomplete without it's flight pack.

Eh. I assume their explanation is budgetary reasons. Don't believe it, but you know. I still think the rex should of came with a bendy wire, and the mercury gundams should of had their shields break down.

Thankfully I don't care about accuracy so much as playability but I won't lie it's frustrating

Nah. They're stupid, but not that stupid. I could see them losing the gun mode, but no way they give up giant sword mode. And the fact that they can reuse that sword for other astrays, I'm sure they'd keep the giant sword mode, if not simplified

I'm thinking it could go either way. I suppose it depends on what they consider worth keeping and who's making the decisions.

Bandai do seem to occasionally seem to omit certain expected iconic features with their GU figures. Sometimes they're a little too simplified (like Aerial's shield), imo, while at other times they're more detailed than I expected.

Hopefully someone realises the big sword is a must-have.

The way I see it, the big sword is quite literally the whole point of the suit.

First off, if they do it as a 25 dollar figure, than yeah, it'll totally have a nontransforming blade. But the only way for the astray mold to jump into the 40 dollar price point in the blue form would be a transforming blade.

I could see them abandoning any other accescory, and then slurging for a simple giant sword that barely transforms to meet the criteria, both in 40 and 25 dollar price points.

Honestly, who knows. They may not even do a blue one with the big sword. I could see them just doing the color variations alone, and maybe we'll never get the giant sword variant. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Are there any other images besides of the astray of the new wavve? Feels weird more hasn't come out yet.

What's the best paint to use to match the green on the Awakened Unicorn? At least one of those shields will need it.

Come to think about, I've been thinking of using GU figures to recreate one of my builds from Gundam Breaker Mobile. What paint matches the metallic blue on the Wing Zero figure?

    They really love unicorn...

Om the bright side, sinanju means sinanju stein soon I guess.

So the unicorns the 40 dollar release I guess.

On one hand, sinanju totally deserved that 40 dollar price piint, but considering his enemy unicorn is 25, I guess it makes sense

Not sure about that. Stein would be functionally a brand new mould. All its armour is different than the Sinanju. It’d share some joints at best.
