I don’t know what the fascination is with giving Wheeljack mouths these days, but I’d like whoever decides it to stop, please. You’re ruining my favorite Autobot.

You perfectly articulated exactly what I've been thinking about this art style. The designs have potential but it all looks so... bland. The faces are devoid of personality, the linework is overly stiff, and many of the shapes are wonky and/or accomplish nothing. Like, what is Windblade's expression supposed to convey? What do those weird-looking trapezoids on Wheeljack's elbows accomplish for the design? What's up with Bumblebee's janky hexagon grill? It's a bunch of little things that all add up to the characters looking, like you said, soulless.

And look, I don't mean to come across as a geewuner because I'm generally open to change, but... WHAT IS WRONG WITH GRIMLOCK'S FAAAAACE

    I wouldn't be surprised.

I doubt they'll go too far down the Beast Wars rabbithole. It'll be main show characters from the first two seasons. Maybe Lioconvoy.

I could see Car Robots Scourge getting a figure. Maybe Optimus and Megatron. Maybe a Spychanger. Most of that has multi-deco potential.

    But I figure we'll go:

    MP-50: Laser Optimus or Scourge
    ...
    MP-55-ish: Hot Shot

I doubt we'll see the breadth G1 gets (and we'll continue to see '84-'86 characters) but main characters from later shows? Yeah. I think that was a lock from the minute they started doing BW MPs.

Seekers look rad. So does Megatron.

Too bad the toys I've seen so far are not so impressive. But it does save money so there's that.

Assuming Takara is around, I think we'll see TF:Animated MPs by 2025.

New universe. Amalgamated of most previous with nods and references.
Windblade's design isn't going to change much because of her Fan poll origins. Though her head design aesthetic will alter as they narrow down new possibilities for how it could work. Like how the first figure and comic appearances had a more aged/experience worn look, to the more youthful brightness of RiD and her later comic version, to now this that shaved off a few more years again off of the RiD/IDW recent version.

All G1 main show bots eventually. Beast Wars will go to cover all mains and then slowly extended. (In show only.) JG1 will get ones for the mains, but also slowly. They have to balance between what's exclusive to their market and what Hasbro might release wider as well as what can be used as recolors too. So it's kind of a 5 to 1 ratio plus recolors and re-dones.

We may someday get Car Robots RiD key players, and maybe Laser Convoy/Scourge. Which would potentially include the car brothers and Landfill/buildking team as well as JRX.
Will likely get the main key players from Armada at some point. Energon might be a skip. Armada will at least get Prime and Hotshot maybe. But that's a way later thing. Though Hot Shot and Armada Screamer are kind of high on the list of want to dos from previous comments made by various at HasTak in interviews.

I think the emphasis is on mostly things that can be re-used or have wider followings or high nostalgia. So G1, BW, maybe BM eventually, and JG1, with Car Robots/RiD2001 more the mains from those are between iconic enough, and G1/G2 recolors anyway. So it'd be an excuse to redo the combaticons and Laser Convoy. But the main focus is G1 toon through BW and JG1 for now. With potentially an outlier or two like Hotshot and Armada/Energon Starscream thrown in, maybe Megatron.

I could see them likely skipping Energon/Cybertron though as the toy models were basically the show models. And Armada Prime is kind of hard to do right unless they include the IR sensor auto trailer which could make it too costly. Kind of the same reason Generations skips them mostly. But Car Robots/RiD2001 I think have a high likely chance at some point. Probably not the spychangers, but the main Predacon/Autobot cast plus the decepticons and two combiner teams do seem likely for someday.

So it is possible we'll see some BW Neo and 2nd thrown in too besides Lio Convoy and Big Convoy since they count as extended JG1. Depends on demand and if they'll move product. Right now the main goal is G1 toon, and BW with eventually some of the rest of JG1, at least Victory. Masterforce pending an upturn in demand. Headmasters counted as G1/JG1 direct.

Though a TFTM Unicron MP seems plausible too, and how it could be remolded to Armada/Energon/Spirit Unicron. But I think the mileage out of the current mold isn't done yet, and that might be more for a 50th TFTM anniversary.

I have to agree. Especially the faces, they all just look so bland. No one has any kind of particularly distinct character. And I can't stand the lack of pupils. I really think they help with making Transfomers expressive. I'm really hoping they'll push the expressive of these models a lot more when we see them animated at length, but I mean look at Starscream. He just looks utterly generic. Who is this guy? What can we tell about him from this picture? Then compare him to Prime or Animated Screamer, whose bodies and faces ooze character even in still shots. Hell, even Armada and Galaxy Force, when the animation was at it's best.

I think bee looks better than he did in RID2 ( i never liked his head shape and giant neck ) .

Wheeljack reminds me of a 70s porn star and Hot Rods flames look like a ladys ass antlers tattoo .

I think Starscream and Thundercracker look nice though .

Given that Armada Prime rofl stomped Primal in the fans' choice poll and Primal still happened on the BW 20th anniversary I am very curious as to what Takara announced for the MP line's release schedule for 2023.

If it does happen I think Optimus, Megatron, Hotshot and Starscream are the only ones who are likely. Jetfire and Overload are moderately likely, everyone else I'd say is unlikely and Unicron is almost impossible except as a remold of almost as unlikely MP G1 Unicron.

Oh look.. another incarnation of grimlock with an offbeat t-rex mode and a mouth in his robot mode, where there should be a mouthplate... I mean, I\'m gonna give the series a try don\'t get me wrong, but I\'m already feeling uneasy about this.

You know, if Windblade's thighs were this nice in the show, maybe I'd actually watch it.

The designs look good, but the shows animation is bad.

Huh. It seems like Wheeljack is asymmetrical, his shoulders don't match and neither do his forearms...

Man I love these designs! Just wish: 1, that we'd get better toys of them, and 2, that the cartoon was done in this more vibrant hand drawn looking style

That and I wish her eyes were smaller. She just looks plump in the wrong way. Like it doesn’t fit her.

I think people have theorised that Wheeljack repairs himself cause he’s too explosive or something.

Agreed man. We so need better toys. MMC, is there was ever a chance to make a serious profit it’s now. Also yes the animation would be much better than what we’ve seen. Have it be expressive and slick.

Is it just me, or does almost every character look like they're drawn in a slightly different art style?
There's something really weird about these designs. Something in-cohesive. But then, the weird roster might have something to do with that, too.

Which is interesting with how relatively new that is to designs, as well as the backlash they got in being added too.
I'm indifferent to that personally. Works great on some designs, but I can also see why some designs prefer without to go for the more covered optic approach. From the clips we've seen the expressiveness can still be reached from eye shape and brows, as well as other facial gestures.

Personally, for these I think it evokes more character in their expressiveness after seeing them in motion. Keeps them feeling alien, but also approachable and emotive. So they create a kind of feeling of both "not of this world" but also "not that different from humans" on the emotional spectrum which carries a great aspect of relate-ability to feel their stories but also reminds you of how they're from a different world too. Has a borderline "Grey alien" kind of soft vibe without being too frighteningly alien horror creature style.

Plaid can be hard on the optics.
