618 figures? That seem rather low to have the record.

I'd say quality over quantity is what counts. One look at his first pic, and it seems the dude just stockpiles the recent stuff.

Honestly that number seems really quite low for a World Record. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of us are pushing or even exceeding that number.

Spent only $4000 dollars? That must be the figure for the missus!

My friends and I have been having a field day over this today. Good for him. However, heh, that number is laughable.

Hell you could practically have 618 figures in just Optimus and Bumblebee repaints at this point......

Yeah no. This guys has nothing and he knows there are others out there that have much more then him. He wants an undeserved fame.
I'm 19 and I have around 400, which is over half of his 618 figures.

Hahahahaha... what? I consider my collection size to be moderate and I have more figures than that. There are at least dozen people on this very forum with 3-4000 figures, and I'm pretty sure a couple exceed the 5000 mark.

Indeed. Since the article says he's still in the application process and has yet to send evidence there are several people in the fandom that could contact Guinness to point out they have considerably larger Transformers collections.

Heck, looking at the breakdown of figures, comics, etc, listed there, even I have him easily beaten in every category except perhaps trading cards (I'd have to check that last one).

I don't understand how someone can be a TF collector and think they have the most items in the world and yet be so far off the mark. You would think before making such a claim he'd have done a little research.

    :lolol

I'm sure I have more figures.

Comics, I might be close. US Marvel G1 alone is half of what he has.

Not sure about the misc TF-branded products though, he might have me beat there.

There were over three-hundred issues of the UK Marvel TF comic. So I had him beat in that category way back in the early 1990s.

I don't believe the record he is going for is for most TF merchandise, but most G1 era merchandise that includes figures, comics, kites, ect. Granted his number (around 1300ish) is very doubtful to be a record. The article itself is poorly written by some local media, and most photos they use are all of Masterpiece and stuff within the past decade.

Forget about Guiness, folks should contact the Press Enterprise and send them photos of their collections...

I'm not about to judge what counts as a "quality" collection. It's very hoity-toity to bismerch another's collection when people will buy what they want, and nobody should dictate besides them what's "quality." To me, a quality collection is whatever the collector most wants.

That said, this is no way a record collection. I have more TFs than this. In fact I feel like most of us probably do. I'm not sure how he made the record.
