Iron Man 3 = I liked the twist with Trevor because I don't read many comics so I didn't get all bent out of shape about it, but the rest of the movie sucked.

Thor 2 = Loki again overshadowed Thor, like IM3 it tried way too hard to be funny and Malekith was barely used. Mediocre.

Captain America 2 = OK, but not outstanding.

Guardians of the Galaxy = With 1 exception, I thought it was fantastic.

On my overall list it's presently 3rd behind Iron Man and Avengers.

    *Drax's voice* YES!!!!

My god! This has to be one of the best movies I have ever seen! It really feels like "Star Wars! :D
From the first scene to the last one, yep, that includes the second extra post credits scene . Was one big wtf? but was still fun. XD
The music, the characters, the colorful space scenes, the stories, everything is so well done!!! Dont wanna give any spoilers but damn!!!
Rocket and Groot do steal the movie but each of the characters are loveable! :D  Gosh, gotta love the Guardians! And we get deeper into the plot we been presented since "Ironman". Man, cant believe we been seen this road all these years and we have so much to see yet! :D
    Love the MCU!!!!!!!! :D

Well damn, I might need to go see this...

I was going to wait for the rental, but if it's really as good as everyone's claiming, I better try to make some time.

Sounds like you're basing that on comic comparison which is why I've responded. I'm not at all surprised that people with no prior Guardians knowledge are loving this. It's a really fun film in its own right, but personally my enjoyment of the film we got was a little damped by the expectation of the film we could've got, and that's really a comment on the characters.

I totally agree with your Drax comment, but totally disagree with your Gamora comment (spoiler tagging this to play safe)
Movie Gamora was pretty much just a generic green spacewoman. She was certainly not 'The Deadliest Woman in the Galaxy' There's no way she would've needed rescuing from the punks in the prison. While she is drawn wearing a lot less in the comics, she's not regarded as a sexual object, she's an equal among the Guardians. In the movie, she just seemed to be a plot device for Quill to get dewy-eyed over. Also comic Gamora has a healing factor and could survive in space for quite some time, but that's being a bit picky.

Star Lord was probably the closest to expectations of all. He was made into a little more of a man-child because that's Pratt's wheelhouse, and that's fine. I didn't really have any complaints.

Drax probably got off the worst, they made him far too mopey and he didn't kick anywhere near as much ass as he should.

Even Rocket I felt was subdued. His maudlin drunk moment seemed like it was shoehorned in to give him unnecessary extra depth and it felt out of character even for the movie version of the character. I was hoping they were going to make good on their promise that he would be the heart of the movie.

As to the heart of the movie, that had to be Groot. Movie Groot was utterly superb. While he was also quite a step away from comic Groot, he was in some ways better, he was a genuinely nice guy in a world full of 'a-holes' supremely likeable, and if they make a Groot dancing plant toy, they have a 'shut up and take my money' scenario right there.

Now I'm not slating the movie, and you may just be thinking I was unreasonably expecting everything to be identical to the comic, and maybe there's a little truth to that, but for me a big part of the appeal to me was seeing some of my favourite comic characters on the big screen, and I don't really feel the film delivered that.
I did appreciate the Cosmo cameo though
what it did deliver is a really fun popcorn Sci-Fi flick which I hope will prove to movie studios that it's ok to take risks and people will still love it.

Looking back, I felt Gamora had the same issue as Drax as well, but felt her personality was pretty right on. So I agree with ya. She was still a better character than Drax overall, IMO.

Really young kids, probably not. Otherwise I can't really see any big issues. The more adult jokes will go over their heads, there's no blood and guts or nudity.

Just be prepared to have to buy a Groot toy on your way home.

I loved this movie, in fact I think I may have a new favorite super hero series now. Or at least another one I eagerly await sequels to.

    Howard the Duck, HA!

I'm not familiar with the comics yet I also found that part odd. "Daughter" of Thanos, killer cyborg, shown to be able to handle herself, hated throughout the galaxy, "sister" is (later) shown to survive an explosion... stopped by a couple of nameless shmucks stuck in a 'normal' jail? Eh.
