And yes, I agree, I want Richard Rider, of course Sam Alexander is Loeb's creation, so there's a high possibility he'll be the one showing up, since he's already the one showing up in Ultimate Spidey and the comics.

 

One could argue the same for Cap, Iron Man and Thor. The last Captain America film before First Avenger bombed badly, plus there's a hell of a lot of anti-American sentiment than there ever was before. Thor, you'd hardly find a guy in the street who could name him before the series came out. Iron Man was possibly the most marketable, and even he wasn't in public consciousness up until his movie launched. TI think we should give Marvel the benefit of the doubt. Yes people familiar with the Marvel films will be expecting more from Guardians, but with Disney's marketing machine behind them as well as Marvel's proven stable of movie people, I wouldn't be surprised if they can turn this into a franchise. They already have a proven story concept - a rag tag band of heroes up against a nigh unstoppable alien force/empire? They definitely won't be Avengers-big, but at least a blockbuster on the level of the last Cap and Thor movies, which is an accomplishment in itself.

Yeah maybe the mods can merge it.

 

Actually Loeb only has control over Tv and cartoons, and not as much live Tv. The movies are outside of his control, and they tend to go with fan favorites.

 

That might be true, however given his influence with the creative people, especially the higher ups like Quesada though, I wouldn't be surprised if they'd push Sam Alexander.

 

Well it usually comes down to the script and the director. Also casual fans know Rich. But hey I say they put Sam on first, kill him then replace him with Rich. But yeah after the backlash over Ult Spidey and EMH, you can bet they are rethinking some of their decisions. I'm going to comic con and am looking forward to fan questions at Loeb panels.

I hope you don't mean DC movie talent, because outside of the Nolan movies, there hasn't been any for a while.

Well, WB set up a DC Entertainment division, which had a bit of an input in GL (with Geoff John supposedly involved with the screenplay). After GL bombed, though, we don't hear anything more about it. Chris Nolan seems to be the one who has a hand in everything, because aside from his Batman trilogy he also did the "grandfathering" of Man Of Steel, the new Superman reboot, and he hand picked Zack Snyder to be the MOS director. His brother Jonathan Nolan also co-wrote the movie with David Goyer.

 

Both companies need are producers who just want the source materials done justice and not for the merchandising and cash.

 

I thought Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige is doing this already, that's why MCU has largely been very successful as compared with their DC counterparts.

 

Cosmic marvel....yes.

 

GOTG movie is a no brainer considering that 1) they need another franchise since X-Men and FF are taken 2) it'll tie Thanos, Thor 2 and Avengers 2 together nicely. If it's done well I'd even some of the members from the team to show up in some of the Avengers movies, including TA2.

Um that ain't just gonna happen. Everyone wants to make money. The thing with Marvel/Disney at least, is that they have people there who want the source materials done justice, and they have people who understand that if the film is done properly, the merchandise will follow. I don't think the people at DC and Warner have that sort of understanding, and you can see how that's screwed up a lot of things (except maybe Batman, but then it's mostly the movie side that's doing it right, the merchandise, especially the toys leave much to be desired.)

Still waiting on the Squirrel Girl movie.  

But a GOTG movie will be hard to do properly i think. but we'll see
