Fingers crossed they use this movie to introduce Captain Marvel and/or Adam Warlock, and also explore Thanos's history and the history of the Infinity Gems.

Oh if Captain Marvel shows up, I hope we get Ms. Marvel and at some point Ronan the Acurusor. (I'd love for Keith Szarabajka to do the motion capture for it)

I am getting majorly excited for this. I hope they leave out any time travel stuff though. Introducing that so soon when already being the first movie to really tackle the Cosmic stuff would be a mistake, and is something best left for the sequel.

Wonder what the cast will be, too. The Guardians have a big cast, and they can't all be in it. Especially if the rumors are true that this movie will include Nova too.

I hope Nova will get his own movie before joining. Yes, he's technically a GL ripoff, and would be perfectly suited to the Guardians, but I think it's too much to put an origin involving Earth again with all the other spacebound Guardians ( in addition to Peter Quill especially)

I'm saying these characters are not well known, a big name director will most likely be attached, and I doubt it will be a huge box office success. It is too obscure compared to the other popular films. I'll see it for sure, but this is one of the few films from Marvel I could see being a complete miss, just based on the source material.

if the characters are likeable, the actors are big names, the director's a big name and the plot, music and visuals are good you could be as obscure as you want to be

That's great. It really is. But let's be realistic. It might get big names, but won't be loaded like Iron Man. The director probably will be known but not big named, as that seems to be Marvel's strategy for the upcoming Iron Man, Cap 2, and Thor. Plot, we'll have to see. Music isn't important. Visuals will be good. But look at Green Lantern. It had some well known actors, good visuals, but everything else was bad and it performed badly. Just saying, this movie is 50/50 on being good or being really bad.

If the movie is written well enough, people can suspend their disbelief.

I'm personally starting to think Marvel was planning to go to space all along. Yes The Avenger was a huge part of Marvel's plan, but that was only the tip of the iceberg. They have slowly been exposing us to the cosmic side of things since Thor. In the next coming films, I think we'll see a huge amount of Marvel's more obscure characters, a lot being cosmic, getting into the limelight.

If they handle this correctly, it has potential to be more successful visually, and possibly story wise, than anything we've seen yet (but y'know, Green Lantern). They've tested the water enough, it's time to take a nosedive. Plus, the Guardians is the smartest choice as a lead in to Thanos.

Well Marvel said back in 2009-2010 that they were planning to do movies of their not well known characters set in the MCU universe, so we will be seeign ALOT of the films based on their least know characters

I know. I read the stuff too. But these are massively obscure characters.

As Tekkaman says, the right creative people are important. Who would've thought say 10 years ago, that the Avengers would be the biggest comic book movie ever? Heck Iron Man's practically as well known as Batman and Spidey now. Not something you could say or see back then.

Hmm...I'd rather have seen The Black Panther or Ant-Man first, but I'll probably still see Guardians of the Galaxy if it's done well.
