As everyone who initially preordered Grimlock had gotten an email that Grimlock will be delayed I have more news. I received an email from Toys "R" US not 30 minutes ago indicating that if they do not receive stock by August 20th they will cancel my order according to their 30 day refund policy no matter what. Obviously for me it would on the 20th as I preordered on the 20th but I have no idea how long the $10 coupon will last and with them raising the price it is a nice way around for them to get out of orders with people who got the Grimlock early and for $10 dollars cheaper.

Yes it is bullshit in the sense it is true. It forces everyone's hand to buy at their now going rate. Don't expect these out before the 20th.

 

Out of stock at $64.99 and the coupon expires on the 25th. Oh well I guess I will need to go to the store for this one.

 

These TRU exclusives are getting crazy,they have so many soon all transformers will be exclusive to them.

This happened with the TRU exclusive soundwave that they did a preorder for too.,,,folks placed orders and then several of my friends got "your order has been cancelled" messages via email from TRU never explaining why...they just randomly capped peoples orders...then stock arrived a few months later and the remaining orders got filled.

 

I haven't gotten an email like that yet...

 

I didn't receive that email, but I did get one around 5AM est saying "Thank you for purchasing from R family" email though. My order date is 7/19, so maybe they had enough then? Who knows with the jackasses over at TRU. Seems like they're new to retail or something.

 

Sorry you guys have to get yanked around, it's hard enough to get TRU exclusives to begin with and now they start salting the wound. If I had one on preorder I'd be going nuts. *hugs Takara MP Grimlock*

 

WAIT A MINUTE!

I called TRU.com yesterday, asking them some questions...

First off, I haven't gotten said email myself, and I got mine at 59.99, with 10 dollars off promo, setting it to 49.99. Then I used my giftcards, to get him for a total of 25.48 shipped.

Second, I talked to the guy who checked his inventory, and they're not getting it on August 1st. They have 930 pieces arriving at TRU.com, on AUGUST 1ST! He told me he guessed they're getting them early and not later.

He said 930 pieces on August 1st, and 2400+ on September 30th, at TRU.com.

So let's just wait and see what happens. Each store will be getting alloted a good amount, so in the case that TRU.com plays the dickhead role, and keeps gouging the price, you can always get it in store for 59.99, and if THEY think they can gouge the price, let the suckers buy them up, but eventually it will shelf warm its way back to 59.99 or lower.

As is though, I haven't received said email, and I actually got them to check their stock, with the first shipment arriving for TRU.com orders on August 1st.

 

I didn't get any email like this. The last message I got from TRU was a backorder notice around 12:30am yesterday.

We got backorder emails from TRU.com, but the emails state that as soon as TRU.com gets them in stock, they will ship them to us.

If that is the case, the TRU.com rep checked their inventory to see how many they were getting and when, and he told me they were getting 930+ pieces on August 1st (this was a call made yesterday after I got the backorder email), and some 2400+ on September 30th.

 

ive got past even caring about having to have any given TF anymore, if i find it on a shelf in some shop within a 5 mile radius i will buy it but the sheer nonsense that can be had with trying to locate a TRU or target exclusive has become ridiculous, between poor distribution and scalpers I really cant be bothered, its less hassle for me to get my friend in japan to send me colossal sentai haulages twice a year!!

 

I just received an email from TRU.com as well, said my MP Grimlock will ship with an exclusive G2 Grimlock paintjob.

This is the email I just received. Eh, if they cancel it then no sweat off my balls. I might just track down a MP-08 instead.

That email is a bit contradictory, and forgive me for saying, looks a bit fake.

Why would TRU say that if you want to keep your order, it will be shipped once they get it in, only to then say, "if this item isn't in stock by 8/20, it will be cancelled?"

I just don't seem the logic in something like that being written, where in the same statement, they say two different things regarding your order.

I still haven't gotten that email. I just got an email yesterday saying it's backordered and will ship when it arrives for them, which the guy said yesterday, TRU.com is scheduled to get them on August 1st.
