    Fixed that for you ;)
Don't get me wrong I like the G2 sets they're coming out with. They're cool, for sure. But then I look at some of the waves of repaints like these last few and all I can do is compare them to some of Cheetimus's customs as "what should have been."

I disagree, the current Hasbro team came up with a lot of creative ideas, such as turning Blurr into Brainstorm. The designer who came up with the original Rescue Bot figures.

Yeah I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about that as well. While people may have issues with their prices or registration I feel like Funpub has always delivered on having creative exclusives for us.

One example from me would be Optimus Primal out of Crumblezone. Now that was a creative use of the mold and it works perfectly for the character.

And on another topic, looks like someone over at Seibertron watched the Cybercast Podcast and caught the Terrorsaur sneak peek. Was wondering when that would be go up as news. Based on the details around the nosecone I'm going to go ahead and guess it uses the CW Air Raid mold.

You're right, that was unfair of me to criticize entirely. At the time I was basing it all off of CW, completely forgetting about some of the new stuff that's on the way... Which so far, I'm thrilled to see.
I just don't think we'll see that niche creativity that we've seen from Botcon (and as an honorable mention Takara's Grand Galvatron). And as a team/box set collector, that's kind of unfortunate.

Beyond a few missteps over the last 12 years of FunPub holding the convention license, they did a lot more right than they did wrong. Could there have been a few different/better figures along the way? Absolutely. But there are far more good figures to come from them than bad.

And everything is perfect about the 2006 exclusives.... But you know my bias!! :lol

I'm amused by the amount of optimism (or self-delusion) in this thread.

Hasbro didn't go to the trouble of pulling all of this, just so they could find someone else to run it. This is all about them pulling it all in-house (the Joe side was likely FunPub making the decision to end, with the loss of what was possibly still the more profitable property.) Hasbro gets the marketing side taken care of now with their already-existing presence at SDCC, and that's probably all we'll get for toys too.
I strongly suspect that there will be no official conventions anymore (it's really not enough for Hasbro to bother with) and "fan club" we get will probably be in name only. Of course, all of this is only my (reasoned) conjecture.
Regardless, despite their many mis-steps, this is a disappointment, especially as a fan of the toys. Sorry for all those commenting about "hopefully the next guys will be good/etc" but there aren't going to be any "next guys." The only con exclusives you'll have to worry about are SDCC-style exclusives (pure repaints now!)
I have a feeling the Club bashers don't realize just what they were hoping for.

Why is there no "blowing my brains out" emoticon? Every time they asked this question, it was met with a resounding negative response.

Maybe at the parole hearing, they can recast the Pete Sinclair role to Ian Ziering! :D

I know that I, myself, will be extremely unhappy if Hasbro goes the "all-brands" option. It would probably kill my desire (and very possibly even my ability... but for other reasons) to attend another official convention ever in the future.

I get that, I'm saying that there's not going to be a con - period. If they wanted to continue them, even with a change, they would've gone with who/what they already know - Fun Pub (who got the TF license because they were already doing Joe.) The only caveat with that is if it was the Club itself that didn't want to evolve to that.
Also, it seems they are just fine keeping TF separate, it's own thing. It's Joe, MASK, Micronauts, etc that they are looking to combine. Which takes away from the possible argument that the Club walked away because they didn't want to do a combined universe thing with TF.

I'm saying there's not going to be a con, because while I agree they aren't pulling it because they think Fun Pub is bad, I feel it goes even further than they're not going to pull it without someone else in place to take it over. It seemed they weren't even going to put it somewhere else while they were already happy with where it's at. Something they've shown us time and again, they were happy with Fun Pub.

No, to me this smacks of someone internally wanting full in-house marketing control of the TF brand. And quite frankly, they meet their marketing goals that a con provides at SDCC, where they are already at.

Following up on my previous statement given the SDCC example. SDCC is practically "in my backyard" from the Pasadena area (a couple of hours away), and yet I've not attended yet. The thought of fighting the kinds of crowds and lines that SDCC gets regularly... doesn't sound like fun at all.

I'm right there too. Nothing about a Hasbro cinematic universe convention appeals to me. Especially enough to wrap a multifaceted convention around. If there are exclusives and they were to be things from the movies, that sound you hear is me, running away as fast as possible. I cannot stress how little appeal that holds for me.

If that means we get the club's proposed "Twilight Sparkle" repaint of Beast Machines Battle Unicorn, I'd be totally OK with that.

MLP Battle Unicorn figure. A figure that in no way predictable in how it will sell.

    1) Some TF fans will avoid it at all cost because it is MLP
    2) Some TF fans also bronies will buy it at all cost.
    3) Some will get it just for the WTF factor
    4) The BW fans will get it just because it is something connected to BW

I would I totally NOT want a "Hasbro-con". There would be no focus and there are just some people you just shouldn't mix together...

The less MLP in my TFs, the better. And I agree with Thundershot. A corporation is the last group you should allow to run a fan convention...
