So I'm assuming now that any new news on whatever is replacing the current "transformers club" will be carried by this site as "news" and the threads will be in the "news" section? Since the current club endorsing that other TF fan site is what pushed them to the other sub-forum?

As long as the new version doesn't play politics, like the last one, I don't see why not.

The TCC didn’t endorse another site anymore than Hasbro endorsed TFW several years back when they had Orson’s world. All the TCC ever said was that Seibertron would get some exclusive reveals and they would be there to talk directly with the fans.

Maybe if certain site moderators had not been so hostile towards the TCC and hadn’t shown clear favoritism towards a competing convention it would have never come to that. So, really, who could blame them for giving some reveals to another site that was more fair in their coverage?

Seibertron is their choice for official forums. That's a big deal.

At the time it was a big deal, it appeared FunPub, for whatever reason, opted to give exclusive "firsts" to Seibertron.

However, very quickly, Seibertron wasn't really "first" as FunPub published new updates via Facebook and Twitter, using those outlets as the first means of distribution. TFW's response to bumping TFCC down the ladder was likely due to feeling slighted by the club. I always felt TFW was fair in their reporting of Club news. It's not the staff who would trash the club when things happened, but board members who were unhappy. Perhaps people on TFW felt more freedom to express their honestly than on Seibertron, and it was misinterpreted by FunPub.

I support the club, but I also can't blame the TFW staffers for feeling this way and opting to remove club news from the frontpages going forward unless it was a major announcement like Botcon.

At this point it's all going to be moot, once FunPub vacates the license and Hasbro (or whoever they designate) takes over. Probably one of the rules might even be to end this sort of "exclusivity" to websites.

Hasbro essentially had a forum here on this site. That a Hasbro representative would post in.

That isn’t even the same because the person that posts at Seibertron is a contractor, not an employee. And Pete actually posts at Allspark from time to time.

So again, there should be no complaining from a site that had their own “exclusive” forum at one time...

Yeah, not only did they choose Seibertron as their official forums, they started mailing him pre-production samples for him to do galleries of before they were released.

That said, I'm happy i'll not have to dig to find club news anymore, once we figure out what the new "club" will be. Maybe Hasbro will take it in-house and do the toys themselves? That'd be fun, I think.

I think we're getting into a chicken/egg argument here. On the one hand, part of the reason Seibertron was chosen was that they weren't so hostile as other places. On the other, that choice increased the hostility on the part of those other places.

You realize that when TFW actually had Ask Orson that the other forums complaining about it was what forced it to shut down, right?

Yes, that is what makes the hypocrisy so amusing…

(And again, the TCC actually does post on more than just one site.)

We've been over the club stuff before guys. Let us not drag down another thread, please. Let us keep this as a thread for Gregg Berger attending Botcon 2016.

And if anyone does have any problems with the way the site is handling things, talk to the staff, please.

    So it's finally confirmed.

I never went to BotCon and now I never will.

    It's a weird feeling.....oh well.

Gregg Berger is a solid replacement choice for Scott McNeil.

Well, that's it, then? TFCC/Botcon are kaput (at least until they find a new company to run it)? Sucks for lifers who have either attended all Botcons or subbed to the Club since the start, but I think most saw this coming. Still, I'm glad I chose this year to get a Club membership, especially since we're getting cool toys.

Makes me wonder if Optimus and Paradron are even gonna get made. I know many wanted a Paradron toy, since 3Ps have been doing that for years. If it is made, might just snag it from BBTS or eBay.

I'd have loved to see Gregg, because as is required by law, Grimmy is in my top 10 all time Transformers.

Also, Botcon is big business for Hasbro - don't think they'll let it regress to a fan-run thing again, especially if a new organizer is installed. Especially since the other unofficial cons will still be a thing after this.

Though if TFCC is not happening in 2017, I can see FP rushing Optimus and Paradron out as souvenirs or extra Store exclusives.

I'd never say anything bad about Gregg Berger, he is a fantastic guest. BUT... he's a bit... familiar. I think I've met him like four times at past conventions. I'd've liked to have seen someone a bit more uncommon take Scott's place.

    I think you're right.

I think you're crazily optimistic. Hasbro's idea of toy exclusives is what they make for SDCC: the same toys with extra paint apps, maybe some chromed parts, maybe some extra weapons. Nothing like the inspired repurposing of molds like we've gotten used to from Botcons both FunPub and pre-FunPub.

The Hasbro equivalent of "premium exclusives" would be the Asian market Platinum releases...those are almost all straight repaints. And if anyone thinks Hasbro would do something crazy like produce exclusive Club/con-only molds...ha ha ha, no. They wouldn't make enough money back on those for it to even be worth it.

I'd love a documentary about what happened behind the scenes. FP has been their longest-running licensee for Botcon and the TFCC. For them to kind of unceremoniously ditch them the year of TFTM's 30th/BW's 20th...that's a big deal.

I don't think the current Hasbro team has the creative nature to come up with exclusive repaints/remolds like FunPub & 3H were able to. I hope that IF we get a new club/con it is licensed out to someone who has that creativity... And doesn't shit on everything Botcon built for the last 22 years.

I don't think we'd have gotten a crazy concept like a combiner based on a UK-comics Deception team from Hasbro...in fact, they rarely acknowledge the UK characters, yet they love G2.

    Oh well.
