But she did do a TFCon. 2014 IIRC.
You may be right, BUT(!) TFCon isn't Botcon.
I don't think that's likely. Do you? Considering Hasbro asked them to lessen their 3P involvement and they thumbed their noses in response. Resulting in Hasbro pulling their presence completely. They're different cons for different audiences. Unless Hasbro suddenly embraces 3P, I don't see that happening.
It would never be the last convention. We don't need Hasbro or a Club for great conventions. Just high cost/low return conventions.
This definitely appears to be very good news for TF fans. Now it depends on what happens after, and if we can get confirmation that this happened for the RIGHT REASONS. In other words, Hasbro finally acknowledges their own shady practices in allowing this farce to operate and scam their most devoted fans.
Nah. "We appreciate your support over the last 12 years and wish the brand well in their new endeavors" is a farewell statement if I ever read one. FunPub's out the door.
Just a joke
Not all fans view this as good news. I wasn't into the magazine, but some of the exclusives were really good and Botcon is an amazing show and I was very glad I attended from 2007 - 2014.
Will there be a better convention and/or club? There is good chance that whatever happens next will learn from the mistakes FP made and build a stronger show.
I can focus on the problems, but the enjoyment of toys and convention FAR exceeds the somewhat minor problems.
I have confidence the convention and some sort of service will be continued/instated by the next licensee, but I also imagine a major shakeup. As others have stated, FP hasn't been entirely trustworthy in certain areas, and has done some very dumb things. There's no way Hasbro HASN'T noticed the fuckups. In fact, I'd be surprised if there wasn't some last straw that made them finally revoke the license.
Transformers I am not that worried about. At the very least there is TFCon and there are some kick ass things in the pipe from Hasbro/Takara.
It's the Joe Fans that are getting kicked in the junk. Hasbro is completely ignoring them (us) and once this last Sub is done there is nothing in the foreseeable future. I may not like them but credit where credit is due they have kept Joe alive. (Barely)
It's weird, Joe is even older than Transformers, and is in fact one of Hasbro's oldest brands -- if I'm not mistaken, it was their first line of boys' toys action figures. TF is healthy and doing well, but GI Joe has been neglected for a long time. I don't remember the last new show, or when I last saw actual Joe toys on shelves. It's a sad day when that cheap ripoff The Corps! has to fill in for GI Joe.
Yeah those 70's Kenner articulated Joe KO's just suck.
While I rarely agree with Afterburner's views on Transformers, I don't think he's being a troll. I think his points are valid and don't feel like they're trying to push other's buttons. .
I hope we'll get a tell all book on the behind the scenes of FP. Perhaps a TV movie.
There is plenty of time for two sets to be posted out in the one year before they close shop on December 31st.
From another fansite a month ago....
There's always Jetfire / Skyfire too whom he voiced.
Yeah that struck me as a bit crazy, I mean Prime is fantastic and I personally like Paradon, but give some more incentive. Also crazy is giving just 6 days for people to renew or miss out on the final TFSS.
Why not let us know this a month or two ago?
Now that we know all subscriptions will stop processing on the 16th, I also question not showing the other four. Unless it spoils something from the Botcon comic like Magnaboss or something. I'd still take the risk because unless they let non-club members in on the sub, many people won't renew just for Ramjet (and maybe Skywarp) amd some unknown TFSS figures (and Prime and Paradron).
Just posted on Facebook

Sounds like they are ready to say goodbye.
I will miss the concept of BotCon and Transformers Club. Good memories and friends were made.
