As long as Parallax doesn't look like a cloud of space flatulence.

(His design was like a cloud of absorbed souls, which I get, but it still looked like a giant fart cloud. They should go with the insectoid design from the comics.)

Heh. Justin Hartley trying to upgrade himself to a Green Lantern calls to mind all the memetic guff people give Hawkeye. Guess the (former) Green Arrow doesn't want to suffer the same ignominy.

So who else is cool with Peter Serafinowicz being Sinestro in this?

I'd frankly like Ryan Reynolds to be back as Hal. He was great in the old movie, say what you will about whether the movie was good. I'd also like if they kept the design aesthetics. I loved the designs of all the aliens Lanterns, I bought all the Movie Masters toys back then... pity how DC toys have gone down the drain since then.

Not sure I like the Sinestro Corps war news... I always preferred Sinestro to be a lone wolf. I mean sure, it makes sense given his "Lawful Evil" personality that he wants to enforce order in the universe the way he sees fit - and what he found lacking in the Guardians' plans - but I never liked that he recruited the worse criminals and serial killers in the universe for it, the same people he has been putting behind bars, and who by definition, are supremely Chaotic.

If you seen Deadpool 2, Ryan apologized about him being in the Movie.

"Each Corps member's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in Oa.
    Therefore, send not to know
    For whom the fart knocks,
    It knocks for thee!"

Wasn't John's involved in the first film?

Really think it's a mistake to go back to the Corps idea. One of the main faults that the first suffered from...imo they should do an Iron Man 1 approach. Keep it pretty basic, mainly focusing on Secret Origins as the core plot.

The first threw the entire kitchen sink at everyone and they totally rejected it. WB should learn from that lesson. Oh, and classic Hal costume white gloves and all.

I don't think the Corps is what audiences rejected, other than the grotesque GL uniforms that looked like that art exhibit of cadavers with their skin removed.

    Freaking yuck.

What people hated was all the human stuff with the cringy forced humor. Reynolds' goofy-ass Hal was the problem, not Mark Strong and the aliens.

Tell me that's not what it looks like. They even gave him these grotesque sunken eyes. The script was a dumb comedy, but the costumes look like they were created by HR Geiger and a team of crack serial killers.

Geoff Johns Explains Why GREEN LANTERN CORPS Can't Just Be "DC's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY"

"I don’t wanna spoil any of the story there, but if people liked my run on Green Lantern, then hopefully they’ll like what I’m doing. What do you do to try and reintroduce a concept and a group of characters and make it - this applies to everything I work on - but as a writer, and that's what I really wanted to get back to, is being the writer, when I do my comics I feel I have more control over the minutae, because the minutae it does matter. All those little choices add up to something good or something that doesn't work. Part of the reason I want to get back into the writing of it all is because I want to form that minutia myself."

"I look at what they did with those suits. Look, I have so many opinions that I won't say. In my head, a tangible suit is cooler, an enhanced tangible suit is better. But it's really going to be about where we are in the director and everything else, and that's a question, we get a great script, and we get a great director, and they want to make the movie and then [we'll see]."

The only people who thought it was going to be like Guardians is MCU and Marvel fans who haven't ventured into Green Lantern lore and solely because it takes place in space and features a group of characters as opposed to one, singular person. Aside from those surface similarities, there's not much else.

    A thought on this.

So far Green Lantern has only gotten a cameo in the Justice League film, from an alien member.

But with the recent news relating to Capt Marvel - an Earth pilot recruited into an alien justice/peacekeeping corps - it's clear that this film will get comparisons from releasing after that one, or may draw influence from it, the same way Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman got comparisons with Guardians of the Galaxy and Capt America The First Avenger.

I'm fine with John Stewart as long as he's written well. I enjoyed how they used him in the Justice League cartoons.

Johns wasn't involved in the first one, Greg Berlanti was.

No the problems with Green Lantern were:
    -Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan
-The GL used being not John Stewart
-WB wanting more Star Trek/Wars type space spectacle at the climax, hence Parallax

The corps wasn't the problem. You can't have the silver age on GL without the corps. Showing them wasn't the problem, every updated Hal origin shows them too. No the problem was a story that WB had re-written 3 times for more blockbuster shit right now!!! After you do the origin GL is space cop on Earth. Then you get the Star Trek/Wars type action.
