That trip had a few good cuts in it to symbolise time moving forward as well as the fact that they pumped the instructions on how to use the ring right into his brain when he got there I think he had a decent grasp of how to use it to his advantage. I think the main reason they train in this universe of the film is to refine the skills they gain in the induction process. Kinda like the Matrix and their data download of skills but Neo had to refine his skills once he learned them.

But I think there was enough of Hal as GL in it to justify it, Batman Begins didnt exactly have Bale in the suit the entire length of the film. Neither did thor.

Sinestro Corps is the yellow lantern group. Orange is a different group entirely, fueled by greed. /nerdnitpick :)

That sounds like a great third or fourth movie, but as an introductory movie? Nah, too much for audiences to handle. I mean, comic fans have enough tension over who is Green Lantern, and you want to introduce that element to casual audiences?

The best way this movie shoulda been handled, imo, would have been the standard super-hero movie formula. Sinestro being Hal's mentor turned arch-villain was the way to go all along. They should have saved Parallax for the the eventual mega-villain. Storywise, the movie hits all the right notes with Hal becoming a Gl, him and Carol, and even his acceptance of being a super-hero. Krona/Parallax was just silly.

My extended and modified review/two cents on Green Lantern:

I love it because I am biased. I love it because it's colorful, easy to understand, faithful, energetic, epic, absorbing, and cool. I also love it because Hal's transition to a superhero is very ephemeral, I also love the movie because it takes it's self seriously enough, Green Lantern accepts it's comic book side and isn't ashamed about it. Unlike the main characters from other comic book movies, the main characters in Green Lantern don't lead a very bland life nor are they far too bland. Fortunately, the movie doesn't have more flaws than it doe's. Unlike some comic book movies, it doesn't try to spread b.s., b.s. that you can't pick up on. The movie took the time to unfold things when it was right and slowly, in some comic book movies, certain sequences are rushed and don't get the appropriate amount of time to breathe. And unlike many comic book movies, the main hero actually saves the whole planet that is known as earth. Not one piece from it or a few pieces from it, but the entire planet. It makes Green Lantern more of a heroic movie. Another strength of the movie is that much of it comes off as being logical enough and believable enough. Some movies fail to make you feel warm once they are done, but Green Lantern left me feeling good and wanting more. And unlike some movies, it delivered what it was suppose to deliver despite the questionable problems. Is it revolutionary? No but it's okay since I wasn't expecting it to be and since I don't think that it was suppose to be. I like Hal's fear, I like his fear because to me, it seems to be 'interesting' because it comes off as being 'intricate' and 'unbelievable'.

Unlike some movies, the movie not only has likable characters, but vulnerable characters as well. Even the villains in it have redeeming qualities. The same cannot be said for villains in other movies. When I think of the cosmic scenes and special effects, I think of the word 'sumptuous'. As for the cinematography, it was great. I saw everything fine, however, it could have been weak if I cared some more about the different styles of camera work. The editing? I thought that it was pretty good, it's pretty good because I don't care alot for editing when it comes to watching movies. Thankfully, there are characters that serve a purpose and characters who have motives to support their actions. I find it even harder to dislike the movie considering the fact that I don't love films as much as others do, the others who evaluate all of the main elements that are necessary to create movies. Two other strengths are the characters' arcs and story arcs, because they are 'existent', unlike some movies where those two factors are 'missing' in action. I'm not one for writing 'bodacious' long reviews on movies nor am I one for giving alot of explanations to back up my reasons in reviews on movies, so therefor I have nothing else to contribute.

So, from the general consensus, it looks like I was plenty justified in not giving a flying frick about this movie?

I don't have any monetary numbers, but the movie is number one here in Taiwan and is quite popular. Theaters have loaded their schedule with GL. I think they should be able to make the budget back and then some with overseas ticket sales.

Saw Green Lantern yesterday. I liked it more than Thor. It's not nearly as bad as the critics are making it out to be.

I personally think GL was OK. It was not phenomenal or anything like that. I feel the story was really rushed. An extra 20-30 could have worked wonders. I'm taking noting away from the actors themselves they did what needed to be done. Maybe had this been released before X-Men my opinion would be higher. It definitely makes a nice edition for the Blu-Ray/DVD collection, but I could have passed on going to the movies to see it.

Looks like I was right. This is only the studio's cut of the film. I hope we see the director's cut on DVD.
RUMOR: Theatrical Version of "Green Lantern" was simply the Studio's Cut... Director's Cut incoming?

Well that gives me some hope (especially more ring training scenes), based on that description I'm willing to give the film another shot if/when a Director's cut is release.

As much as I enjoyed the theatrical release, I'd be quite interested to see the director's cut as well.

The problem is unlike other movies, with the exception of the scenes with the kids, most of these would be CG, and therefore may never have been completed as scripted due to studio budget concerns. Like there may be green screen footage of a lot of this, but no finialized CG.

I just saw this tonight, and really do not understand all the hate this movie is getting. It was a great summer type movie. I was entertained the whole way through. I didn't hate Blake Lively like I was expecting to. The scene during the credits was awesome. Well worth my movie going dollar. I cannot wait for the BluRay release.
