I was planning to get Encore #11 Skywarp & Thundercracker but then I watched this review on youtube.

    YouTube - g1 transformers ENCORE 11 thundercracker & skywarp

The reviewer says that there is some kind of grease on the tray and on one of the figures and that it prevents the stickers from sticking. It's 1 minute into the video.

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem with these and also if it's a problem with Encore in general?

    Thanks.

It's common on toys in general to have some residual grease.

Nothing a little wipedown can't fix.

I don't own that set yet but I do own Bruticus, Sky Lynx and Omega... no grease. He just said to rub it down for the stickers to stick better.

Its a problem the Jets have for some reason. I know my Hasbro reissue Skywarp and Thundercracker have sticker problems.

However, it shouldn't keep you from owning 2 of Megatron's favorite henchmen

not a problem. it's very common in all toys not just TFs to have some kind of grease on them. it's just part of the manufacturing process.

I've thought of it like a greased cookie sheet, helps get the toy out of the mold more quickly. The rare times I've seen it that is.

I've seen this most with Robot Heroes, it's also quite common with the later smaller G1 Pretender shells, Monstructor's bot shells in particular.

it's mold release, everything manufactured in an injection molding machine will have some on it, it's to make sure the mold doesn't get stuck closed

I would like to add a suggestion to any figures that require sicker application. Wipe any surface that you are applying stickers. Normal body grease may be present on your figure while handling it. This may affect the to the glue on the sticker.
