Thanks. I kind of just ended up putting magnets everywhere. I was making it up as I went along. I couldn't find any flat metal plates for the magnets to attach to, so I used the tops of large push pins. It actually holds together quite well, much better than I thought while I was making it.

You can't see it, but it took a while to get Starscream's knee's to work with Omega's thighs. The gears are close, but quite the same size. But the dremel and resin solved that.

 

I think the aspect which impresses me most is the detail work. All the tiny guns and gizmos evoking the original toy, plus the great translation of the color patterns onto what is a very different underlying shape. The kibble could maybe have used a little more breakup, but the use of an aircraft carrier altmode just worked so well. The base mode, of course, is just glorious G1 icing on the cake.
