my dog is 7 years old, a american eskimo/something mix (we dont know what) he has lived in this house all his life. no problems at all. we have a fenced in backyard we have 2 other dogs they all go out and play and do thier thing. now all the sudden he doesnt wanna go outside anymore. we have to drag him to the back door and literally push him outside.. anyone got any idea what the hell is going on with my dog?? oh here he is
Our dog here wouldn't go outside one day because my brother returned the vacuum and left it on the back porch, so maybe he's scared of something. I don't know, if that's not it and he still won't go, call your vet. Cool dog, btw.
That sounds strange and I've never had a dog with that problem. Take him to the Vet and see what they say. It might be a sign of some sort of health problem
i dunno what to do really he eats fine he does his thing outside (once we get him outside) his inside behavior hasnt changed at all. he still barks when people walk by the house and i really would like to know what kind of dog he is, i do know he is half american eskimo. the puppy papers said Eskimo X im truly befaffled
It kinda sounds like he's scared of something outside. Our dog is that way with fireworks. She'll be afraid to go outside for a few days after hearing a few booms.
^^^ Yeah, that is the only thing I can think of too. Still, given his age, you can never be too careful!
I wish my neighbors little POS dogs had this problem. They never go inside. All they do is sit outside and wait for me to walk by a window, open my door, water my lawn, take out the trash, go to work, get the mail, turn on the porch light, etc... then they bark their little fuckin heads off. Non-stop. I HATE those dogs. All kidding aside, I wish you luck with yours, and hope he'll be fine.
I have this exact same problem! It drives me Nucking Futs! We've been living here at our house for over a year and a half. You would think that after so long, the dog will get used to us. That little dog is INCREDIBLE! It will continue to bark non stop for long as we're in our back yard.
it can be the oddest things sometimes, my dog would do the same thing then pee all over the house and she has always been potty trained. Turns out she was diabetic. She now takes insulin twice a day.
Go out with your dogs at their regular time and sit quietly and observe for an hour or so. You'll be better able to tell if its a health problem (and have more information to tell the vet) or if its a problem with the other dogs, or someone or something outside has decided to torment your dog. --Moony
If you've tried asking the owners of the dogs to get them to be quiet and they won't, then you can call the cops. Why shouldn't you be able to enjoy the peace and quiet of your own yard/home? The cops will tell them to shut their dogs up or face the consequences. I don't wish nothing ill on the dogs, but people who let their dogs be like that piss me off.
I had this same problem a while back. My family and I decided we had enough and calling the cops didn't do anything. So we sat next to the fence for a day and made friends with the neighbor's dogs. We fed him some leftover beef and pet him through the fence after he got used to use being around him. Now we have the problem of these dogs wanting to be in our yard, near us, more than in their own yard with their negligent owners.
I'm really glad you chose this option and not a bb gun like I probably would have lol ( that's a joke before you PETA freaks get after me)
Sort of the same situation with my neighbors dog, only she never really barked at me. I feed their pit bull every now and then and now she's gotten to where she'd rather be over here with me most of the time. She does bark at me now, but only if she sees me through the fence and I don't come pet her, she's a jealous little thing.
If they stayed in the backyard and only barked at my wife and I, I would try that, but the problem is they stay mostly on my neighbors side porch, and everything that passes around the house is visible to them. The kids in the neighborhood riding their bikes, mailman, passing cars, the wind, all of which sets them on a barking spree. I have since had a hose with a spray nozzle ready to go, and liberally spray them when they go off. Now when they start barking, if I walk out to my side yard next to their porch, they know the hose is conning and run for their doghouse. It still drives me nuts because it only stops them when I'm out there, once I go back inside, they start again. I really need to have a talk with my neighbor, but I really don't want ill feelings. But I guess since I have developed them myself I really don't have much to lose.
