http://www.guitarrising.com/ I have been waiting for something like this ever since Guitar Hero came out.
Yeah, this does look interesting, although I have some concerns about how much it would actually teach you to play guitar, since what it is is basically streaming tabs for specific songs, which doesn't actually promote learning of guitar playing across the board. Still, depending on the song selection it could be a lot of fun.
Oh YES. Finally I can quit feeling like a loser playing a guitar with colorful plastic buttons! Looks like it's PC only, from what I can tell. Shitty.
Well, it claims to be for the novice players as well, but it probably is best suited for people who at least know some of the fundamentals. Yeah..Hopefully it will expand, but I'm not counting on it. I got my pc hooked up in my living room anyway, so it's not a big inconvenience for me. With that said, I will probably suck just as bad as I do with Guitar Hero, I really haven't kept up with my guitar playing in the past 6 years or so. I'll be rusty as hell, but hopefully this will help.
I also have a bad habit of always looking at my guitar as I am playing. Perhaps this will help curb that.
Yeah, I'm looking forward to this too. I am also skepical about how much it actually "teaches". I have a feeling even if I was really good at this I would still have to look at this kind of thing to play.
Me too. I was hoping it was a port to the Wii that let you swing the GH3 controller around your living room wildly to kill zombies. I'm disappointed.
This is perfect. I know for a fact that Guitar Hero has inspired thousands of people to buy guitars and fail to play them. I was at Steve's music buying a ukulele the other day and I saw books of Rock Band and Guitar Hero songs.
Man, you are the third person to say that, and I am the second person to say that you are talking about We Are Legend: Arockalypse.
Yeah, I am not sure why this wasn't the original concept. Most my friends who play guitar say playing a guitar is easier than Guitar Hero, it just takes a lot of effort. And this game is the equivalent of playing by tablature instead of reading real music. Sounds good for me. I bet this software would also allows you to import your own music so you can learn to play anything which would be great.
I think this is a concept that could be done far easier on on guitar hero as it doesn't matter what the note actually is. Not that they would ever do it, when they can charge $50 a pop or more per game. I can picture Guitar Rising having song patches that you can buy and download, but not a song importer, which would be really cool.
