So, I've finally been able to save up enough money to start browsing Amazon without immediately thinking everything looks out of my league.

The only toys I currently own are some RID2015 minis, RID2015 Drift, and an unidentified Red Alert + three unidentified Perceptors. None are particularly large/complex or what I'd really bring out in discussions of real Transformers toys.

So... what are some good, current-gen toys that are good for beginners?

I'm past the Walmart toy phase. I can really only get as deep as Amazon and Ebay in terms of online shopping for them, but I do know a few things about touching up figures if it's needed. (By that I mean I know my way around acrylic and enamel redeco paints, but I've never really been a big toy guy.)

Please keep in mind I also have a beginner's budget. I can probably go up to $100, but going off of that- what would you recommend my first real Transformers toy be?

I'd suggest some Combiners Wars figures and the upcoming Titan Wars line. Beyond that, you could probably catch a Masterpiece figure on sale.

Combiner Wars would be a good place to start, or wait a few months for Titans Return. If you aren't afraid of a little complexity, for under $100, you can get a Masterpiece figure, like Wheeljack or Tracks.

I'd also suggest if possible, to use the Junkion Exchange here (our Buy/Sale/Trade marketplace) simply because if you browse around and play your cards right, that money could stretch much farther than it would anywhere else.

If your like me and don't collect MPs, go for the new Bruticus, he should be within your $100 range, and he looks fantastic.

Yeah, I'd shoot for one full Combiner from the current line. They may not be the TF's on the surface, but they can be touched up and the whole play pattern is good. I think TF source will has some deluxe limb waves on sale.

By the way, can you pics of the unidentified First Aid and Preceptors? This has me really curious.

Well, to get used to transforming, I'd recommend Legends Class toys.

MP Bumblebee is a really nice transformation if you want to dip your toe in the MP line.

Do you want them to be more playthings or display pieces?

What's a display piece? Toys that can't be handled and played with are straight garbage. Especially brand new toys that the chrome rubs right off. Bet that paint is toxic too :ev:

Just buy what you want like wtf. For beginners what are you a 3 year old? If so get some rescue bots, if not buy whatever you like

Sure, I can transform MP Acid Storm while I'm hammered, but in no way would I recommend any MP toy to a "beginner."
Go Legends class. All the detailing of the mainline figures with limited complexity, then work your way up in cost, size, and complexity of transformation.
Don't start with MP. Not sure if everyone else here is pulling your leg or being completely serious.

Stick with the Generations line for now. Combiner Wars brought some really good figures, and Titans Return will bring some even more amazing figures.
I'd suggest getting Leader Class Megatron from Combiner Wars and CW Ultra Magnus. Both are perfect representations of their respective characters.

So glad that you know what other people like to do with their figures.
