What would be good ideas or bad ones for a transformers series? I don't know since I was thinking about transformers who transform into dragons in the way fantasy series portrayed them?

sticking with one main series, and progressing it, developing the characters, allowing you to get to know them, to love them, to hate them. That is what is a good idea.

A bad idea, that's what they've been doing for a long time now, changing series every year or two, completely scrapping the prior line and story.

Alot of folks think that the beast era should've continued, and carried G1 on. That could've worked in theory. Another fan favorite is RiD, which had way more potential than it was given, it was a very nice reboot to the franchise, but was all but wasted.

Then there was the armadaverse of armada, energon, and cybertron. There were so many great gimmicks, characters, and toys, but they had almost no consistancy. Armada was all about bricks with plugs on them that you could snap minicons onto, although with DID finally get a unicron out of it, so it wasn't all bad. Then energon was like "Transformers: Greatest Hits". You had superion, devastator, bruticus, ironhide, rodimus, ravage, quintessons. But again, it dropped the ball in that they all but dissed the gimmick from the previous line, whereas they could've kept the minicons as a powersource, alongside the energon stars, and the powerlinxing (sp?). Then there was Cybertron, which originally (galaxy force) had nothing to do with armada and energon at all whatsoeverr, but they still managed to cram a square peg into a round hole with that one. Prime said "I've never heard of transformers combining"? wtf! you just spent the past 3 series doing just that yourself you screaming ninny! Omega Prime, Magnajet Convoy, and Wing Convoy/Omega Convoy.

I think with animated, they've got a great thing going, although the chins are considered a bad thing by alot of folks, overall, the series is turning out great, and if they stick with it, they can carry it on for the long haul. I think that if they make that the main line, with a collectors and movie line alongside, and stick with that, they'll be the ones with the trump card in the end.

Worst possible idea EVAR: making the bratty kids the main focus of the show.

Made anything between R.I.D. and Animated un-watchable in my opinion (excluding the awesome movie of course   ).

Although Armada gets a few brownie points because we got a kick-ass Unicron toy, a pretty sweet PS2 game, and I liked the theme music :p

I would love to see an animated Transformers series based on Classics or Alternators, and I know the line is dead, I'd still like to see it.

i actually think it would be an interesting idea to explore an else worlds transformers zoids crossover storyline trilogy in which the beast wears took place on planet zi in the period of time that occured after the end of the ancient zoidian civilization and before zi became an off world human colony world

basicly each maximal and predicon beast warrior would have a zoid like beast mode that would be an amalgam of each zoid that happens to share that maximal or predicon beast warriors animal form

    for example

optimus primal would transform into a zoid like beast mode that would be an equal parts mix of the deadly kong/gorem/ iron kong/gorilla tron/ iron kong, mack 2/hammerrock/ silver kong zoids

with cheetor transforming into a lightning saix/ gravity saix

tigatron transforming into a shield/blade liger

dinobot transforming into a bersurk fury/gunsniper/ rev raptor,/arosaurer

    airazor transforming into a firephionix/buster eagle/bladehawk

rhinox transforming into a dibison/mad thunder / darkhorn black rhimos type zoid

depthcharge turning into a sinker stingray type zoid

and tigerhawk turning into a liger zero/phionix type zoid

as for each of them haing a beast mode that is a mix of a number of zoids i figure at the very least it could serve as a legal way to sidestep the whole copyright matter when it comes to whoever it is that currently owns the copyrights to the zoids mythos.

heres a list of zoids people.

which zoids would you use for which characters beast mode?

Bad Idea: Keep rebooting the franchise

Good Idea: Grow some balls, make TF more mature. Have a long term series planned, something that can span multiple series within one continuity, maybe changing the animation style or the tone with every series, but keeping it consistent, make the comics part of this effort as well.

That's what my mental image of what Beast Machines should have been.
Or better; the Botcon Wreckers comics. That's pretty much what that was.

Here's at least one good idea for a Transformers series... a G1 revival!!! Yeah, they redo G1 for the 21st century... think IDW's Infiltration/Escalation arc.

    I'll second a G1 revival.

The Mini-cons were a great idea that were horribly executed. Once the Unicron Battles Mini-cons came out that turned into weapons, then the idea was really cool. They didn't need to be used as an interactive gimmick with the main bots, just as little Targetmasters.

I also like the idea of a line of just Duocons (not like in Energon, but executed similarly to what they were in G1, but updated) and Triplechangers.

I wouldnt mind a series like "Transformers Cybertron: Balancing Act" comicbook, a introduction of characters from different universes and base is a little more around Alpha Trion, Vector Prime, Sentinel Maximus and the other Convention figures. Minus all the cheesey gimmicks and bratty kids, it could work out. Bring in the humans like once for comic relief, then when that episode is over, kick them to the curve and get back to the Robot goodness.

anyone checking out the All Hail Megatron teasers? the ideas in my head from just the pics has me drooling for more in that vein.

an animated Series done like Ghost in the shell (the cool movie, not the stuff on CN) with darker tones and themes.

    War Within series.
    Any G1 With intelligent dinobots.

    the bad ideas would be:
    have kids in it.
Have the TFs transform into plants.
    kids.
    teen titans animation style.

bad idea man. TF cartoons will always be for kids as long as TF toys will be made for a reason. but hasbro does throw us adults a bone. thats why they give out comic license, even when it makes little money ever since comics have evolved into niche adult market.
