EDIT: It looks as though the credit for Sunstreaker and Sideswipe, among several others pictured in the game section of the AA2, goes to Bill Forster. So between Bot Con and War for Cybertron, I've had Transformers on the brain lately. Well, pen came to paper and I drew up a few Transformers to pass the time. Two characters who came from that were TFA versions of Sunstreaker & Sideswipe. Long story short, I finally picked up a copy of the Allspark Almanac Vol 2, excited to compare my bots to how they're depicted in the book. What you see here is the result. Obviously, the Sunstreaker & Sideswipe on the right are traced from a scan of the almanac. The two on the left are mine. Below I tossed in the result of my original sketches of Sunstreaker & Sideswipe. Needless to say, this was done for fun, and I do not own the rights for anything Transformers (Animated or otherwise) names and characters © Hasbro
Wow... XD I guess when I looked at the AA2 Sideswipe head, I was like huh?! as for the Sunstreaker head, all you have to do is put his head on a stick, and you can use him as an axe... I do really like your renditions though, their movement and colors. They look like frontliners, which is totally awesome! I must say that you've got the style down pretty good too! Are you going to do altmodes?
My God, that's what they look like in the AA2? Was it something DJW did or one of the Authors, like that Kup and Wheelie that was seen not all that long ago? I think your desings suit them WAY more!
Yeah I like your designs more. The brothers are essentially jocks - they should have beefy chins and necks, like you've given them (and the little chin beard thing aswell)
The AA2 heads look terrible, but yours are just amazing. They really look like they could/should be in the show. These are the proper Elite Guard twins, they just look incredible, Im in love with them.
I have a strong feeling that like almost all the other non-show charatcers in the book, Sunstreaker and Sideswipe are not DJW designs, which is why they look so basic. I'm interested to know who, in fact, really made them.
I'm wondering if it could be Bill Forster because I remember hearing that he drew the Kremzeeks in the last almanac. My question is, if it's not by DJW, why are these even in the almanac?
Very cool, looks much better than the Alamanc ones as others have said. I'm pretty sure DJW didn't draw those, it seems to mimic the Animated style but not completely. It's probably one that either Jim or Bill drew or got someone else to draw. Kinda like all those portraits of the Omega Project binded partners.
They actually could have been drawn by him, but maybe since they knew that these two weren't going to be in the actual show, they just didn't flesh them out? If Bill drew the kremzeeks in the first one, then maybe someone could have drawn them in the second one too. I think it's more of a team collaboration than anything else. Maybe, ^^ If DJW drew every single thing in the AA and the AAII, he is a god. XD
I don't own the AA2 yet, but seeing these heads, it doesn't remind me of DJW's style, it seems more of an idea of his style so that's why I'm guessing it was Bill Forster, especially since that Kup we saw a few weeks ago was by him and you could definetly tell it wasn't of DJW's design.
You are the winnrar. Those other AA2 designs look ....... stupid. EDIT: AA2 ... AW GAWD. They make me cringe. Dammit..... EDIT 2: Every time I see the AA2 heads I feel ..... enraged. THEY LOOKS HORRID!
I can't say I like either. Yours are well drawn, but they just look like the G1 heads with less detail. They lack the personality inherent in the Animated designs. The AA2 designs are emaciated and goofy.
Because they're not from character profiles, they were part of a board game. All actual charatcer models are drawn by DJW. Any little fanwank headshot in the corner of a text box is somebody else.
Dude, awesome desing. I agree with you guys when I saw the heas in AA2. I was like, what the heck is that? But these look great. Keep em coming.
