The title of this thread is epic :)

    Appropriate and epic.

I cannot wait until I tell my brother about this. He got a mention in one of the UK gaming mags with his comments about the cancelation (think it was Retro Gamer). Can't wait to see his reaction.

But hey, Gearbox is involved so if it happens it could be a lot of fun.

This is the game that lets my inner child believe that someday any canceled game can still be in the works. One day I may still get to play Star Fox 2 or the N64 demo based on Final Fantasy 6, as long as a stitch of development was done, it may still happen!

That said... seriously, why not scrap this completely and just start a new Duke Nukem game entirely that doesn't have this massive heap of negative press and failed attempts behind it?

What is worse when the game is released and isn't a masterpiece we will get the usual moaning. I've never understood where this comes from, that the longer it takes to make a game the better it must be.

Does the Duke Nukem name really carry so much weight that its still gonna sell well today? :shrug

You have to admit, the one benefit to the infamy of DNF is every gamer on the internet now knows of it. Granted, the game could induce orgasms with every shot you take and it still wouldn't live up to the hype, but the game will sell JUST because it is Duke Nukem Forever.

    "I won't become the thing I hate"

the more solid proof that this game is coming, the more likely i'll reserve this game 13 f*@#ing years.

p.s. i thought this would be about Oot. :lol

Which I suspect is why it's being revived. It's so well-known round the interwebz it's easy to believe a company would take a chance on throwing something out there and making some cash based on name recognition alone

    Meh..

they should just put the nail on the coffin and let this die but knowing myself I will probably play it because I enjoyed the other Duke Nukem games.

If it ever gets made I'll buy it on principle alone. I've waited this long and I don't know if I could ignore it.

They should keep the game in eternal development just for tradition.

I just hope they don't really scrap the work 3D Realms has done on the game and just bring out another game with that name...

Because 3D Realms said that they are still developing Duke Nukem Forever and now their shitty publisher comes and says "WE HAVE THE RIGHTS ON PUBLISHING THE GAME" and say Gearbox finishes the game.

No news on 3D Realms site. So it seems possible that Gearbox makes a completely new game just titled Duke Nukem Forever or it is just a bluff maybe...

    We'll see.

Best would be, Gearbox cooperating with 3D Realms to really bring the work of them to the finish line. They could do it alone, yes, but it would take more time to understand what the people already coded and it would be easier to have some of the people around, who originally worked on that stuff.

3D Realms laid off the DNF dev team last year. If Gearbox want folks that worked on it to help, they'd be better off employing those folks directly instead of dealing with the idiots that run 3DR.
