Here's a black repaint of Inferno, with some gold highlights. Originally planned as a straight up Antagony, I decided to try some gold paint that worked well in the past. Photos don't really capture the subtle difference, but there's a few different shades of gold here, around the eyes, and in the rear end gold panels.

I'll add a faction symbol when I figure out who it works for.





Different black paint finishes, flat, gloss and something in between.


I'm really happy with how the eyes turned out. Very glossy, have to make sure there's nothing reflected in them in these photos.

The black teeth are definitely my favorite detail.
I can see at least two tones of gold. But they pretty flat. More like a golden yellow over tan. Did you dry-brush them on top of each other?
And did you paint the ant eyes from the in- or outside? And is it easy to move the head?
I think a white or golden faction symbol would be perfect. But I think there are only ones for Decepticons in those colors (from ToyHax at least).

And maybe paint the other three eyes on the forehead glossy black, too.

I love straight repaints like this. Repaints were *relatively* rare in BW. I wonder what it would look like now with repaint-heavy Hasbro

I love the black void of the ant’s eyes, but I’d also love to see them gold. Looks like I’ll have to get two figures when I can get him.

Teeth: I almost chromed them, but I preferred the slick glossy black. Did a few digibashes and stuck with the original idea.

The gold is mostly Privateer /P3 “Gold”, which is a very yellow metallic gold, painted over testors flat “Tan”. I like P3 paint, but it is very thick and often needs a good primer, which I don’t usually like to do. In this case the Tan was a primer. I mixed some burnt sienna and brown into the gold to give it some variation. This photo probably shows it best but my phone doesn’t capture it.


Ant eyes are painted from the outside (and inside technically, but I know what you’re asking).

The bot head has a pin on the side and it is a bit tricky to take apart but it can be done.

As for the faction symbol whatever I do will likely be black and just be very subtle. I really want the ant mode to stay all black.

That's an even better idea  
Maybe even use a rubsign. I used one for the grill of my RID 2015 Steeljaw. It's all black until you rub/heat the sticker up.

 

The whole head comes off easy. Getting that pin out was a bit more challenging.

 

Holy hell, that black is so clean it looks CG.
