QC has been on a steady decline the past few years, and 5mm posts/ pegs/ hand holes have been out of whack for longer than that. QC should be a minor issue at most, but it's unfortunately very commonplace for Hasbro....

Is it possible to fix the malformed head, like easily split it and glue back together? Or it's just one piece head which the mold itself has issue.

I'm the exact opposite - he's one of my favorite "obscure" characters, and I've been hyped for him since he was initially rumored, so this suuuuuuuuucks. I'm savvy enough that I could paint or maybe even dye the yellow plastic on the shoulders into a better black, but I am definitely not a good enough kitbasher to fix that head.

CONSPIRACY THEORY: it's a MTMTE reference - anyone can fix a horizontal bisection, but how about vertical?

The head looks like a mould issue and not an assembly issue.
    Because everything else matches up.

Ah, that sucks, sorry to hear that. He was an unknown to me because I quit collecting TFs sometime in 1987-- I think Grotusque might have been my last G1 purchase. Not sure when Action Masters came around, but I'm sure I had moved on to building muscle cars and riding dirt bikes by then.

That said, this potential deco-- ignoring the color inconsistencies-- is really cool. And the head sculpt (if not crookedly bisected) would be really nice, too. I love the huge yellow visor. Back when we first got hints of this figure, I looked up the character's tech spec bio, and it sounds pretty interesting. Honestly, if it was done well, I would be far more interested in Jackpot than I was SS86 Jazz, despite having no connection to him. I can imagine for those invested in the original, these QC issues would be a letdown.

As an aside, I'm a bit surprised that the balljoint works, given that the mold is so skewed.

Received Jackpot today. The box is smaller than I imagined.

didn’t like the yellow mushroom pegs and parts on the hood, so I painted them black. Quick and painless, and looks 10 times better.

Same here. I'm really upset about this. I own and love the Animated Jackpot, so finally seeing another toy of him had me excited AF. This is incredibly disappointing and I'm seriously considering cancelling my preorder. I don't care if they end up fixing it later, there's no excuse for a company to release an official figure in that condition now.

I swear I'd get a better quality product ripping the head off an actual AM Jackpot and sticking it on a Jazz body. Which, now that I think about it...might legitimately be a good solution.

ED: Just wanted to add a comparison, because it is extremely fucking sad that the thirty year old original sculpt is clearly more competently done than the brand new one. And that's the actual product photo shot, the one they looked at and said "Yes, this one. This is the one we want to represent this toy on multiple sites."

If we make enough noise maybe hasbro might send out replacement heads just like they did with a power rangers figure

What kills me is they all seem to be misaligned in the exact same way, like the helmet pieces legit were made wrong and dont quite fight together.

I hate to continue to be That One Asshole, but. I borrowed a photo from That Toy Guy on Twitter and pulled a photo of AM Jackpot from a photo gallery on Seibertron, and spent like two minutes on this:

Genuinely, the original sculpt looks better on the figure. I'm probably not going to cancel my order and just find a Jackpot on Ebay I can either take the head from or cast a mold of and headswap.

    Congrats!:thumb

I ditched the changed the address trick of Amazon USA (wtf is the issue that they can't sell it on the fly?) o_O  Even RK isn't selling this. I don't want to bother my Aunt in San Diego to send this from her address 'cause the shipping's gonna murdify me for just one item.:cry

They made an Animated figure of him? I love that Jazz mold (my son has it), but I never realized they released any re-decos other than the silver one.

EDIT: Oh, that TFA figure looks sweet! (Just looked it up.)

Well damn! Dead End looks great, too! I might have to put those on my eBay browse list.
