Rock Lords were cooler in the Machine Robo anime. I wouldn’t mind if Action Toys made them. I also wouldn’t mind Action Toys ACTUALLY FINISHING UP THE DAMN LINE.

Why yes, I’m fine. Why do you ask?

Are they still making that generic Anime Line of transforming robots in the Machine Robo scale?

I saw Rod Drill was in stock at TCP so I grabbed one and canceled my Amazon order. If I like this line as much as I suspect I will, I’ll probably sell my Action Toys figures as they get Megahouse equivalents.

I’m curious as to whether or not AT still has the license to produce MR figures. I don’t think I’ll get rid of my current AT figures (I only have a couple), but the first one to produce Turbo gets my money. I wish I had gotten AT Loco when he was available too…hopefully Megahouse does one. I’d be happy if I could just add Turbo, Loco and Scooter to the Leader-1 and Cy-Kill I already have. I don’t care if the aesthetics and scale don’t match. Crain Brain would be a nice bonus!

A coworker of mine and I really like the Robot Chicken GoBots sketch with Screwhead. It’s just one of those in-jokes among friends that we love to reference. A few years ago, I even got him an original Screwhead for Christmas. I’ve been really wanting a modern update of the guy. At one point, I cobble a bunch of Weaponizers into him after being inspired by Zetar’s “screwhead”. I missed out on the Action Toys one a few years ago but I found this guy was on preorder at BBTS and sprung at got him.

Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos Machine Build Series Rod Drill

I got an email yesterday that he’s about ready to ship and I was curious if anyone knows anything about this line and the figure. Is this similar to the Action Toys line?

Their license was for outside of Japan so I don’t know if the Machine Build line necessarily affects it like some have suggested. Pose+ is still doing Triple Jim and they’re also part of the Art Storm family of companies along with Action Toys. And various Art Storm companies have been doing Machine Robo stuff on and off for quite a while, so I’m still thinking they’re on one of their extended breaks that we’ve known them to take throughout the course of the Gokin line. Would be nice if Action Toys would just tell us what’s going on though so we know for sure.

    Dear Action Toys,

This (and more!) could be yours if you release Turbo/Supercar Robo.

    Sincerely,

They’re honestly their own worst enemy with how many people have dropped out of collecting the line because of their delays and hiatuses.

They seem to sell pretty well! BBTS, for example, only appears to have one of their MR figures in stock at the moment (Tough Trailer) and none on preorder. You’d think they would be tripping over themselves to pump out more product in a line that appears to consistently sell out. Maybe the company is just really small and simply doesn’t have the manpower. I don’t know. It’s kind of confounding.

I know. We need smaller companies doing stuff like this. Everybody else is too busy doing the 900th version of the Ninja Turtles or more generic army soldiers.

Just as an aside, Not all of the Action Toys figures were good. Eagle Robo was ok, Bike Robo was ok, Shuttle Robo had issues with breakage, and Tank Robo was fantastic. For every good one, there are a few that aren't. Do we really want to roll the dice on Supercar Robo?

Not necessarily toy-related, but is there a DEFINITIVE episode order for Challenge of the GoBots? The GoBots wiki, Wikipedia, and iTunes store all seem to have them in different orders

From what I can gather the only two fixed orders are production order and original screening order. Everything else is up to interpretation as there will always be characters who appear before they're introduced or story elements (such as they are) out of place.
