I went to a toy convention this past weekend and found Leader-1, Crasher, and Cop-Tur all for $10 each. Leader-1 has tight wings and his legs, as well as Crasher's legs, lock into place when fully extended in robot mode. Cop-Tur has both blades. It even came with Leader-1 and Cop-Tur's cardbacks. I was stoked to find such a good deal on such important characters. Now I have what I would consider the main 6 characters from the Go-Bots cartoon.
Considering the prototypes for Turbo/Supercar Robo and Rest-Q/Ambulance Robo are not in the company's possession (as far as we know), I don't see much hope for their release at all. What baffles me is that we have a plethora of unofficially licensed Legends scale Transformers out there and we can't get any Legends/Core class scale figures for Gobots? WTH? Is Bandai worse than TakaraTomy/Hasbro when it comes to unofficially licensed product? That is my dream right now, Gobots would make for a superb Core class line. Just look at Core Class Soundwave/Optimus Prime/Starscream/Megatron. Imagine getting a Gobots line like that!
I'd love legends Gobots. But Bandai is more likely to sue or get the authorities after them than Hasboro is, but they might be able to get away with it if it was more based on gobots.
ugh okay spencer....figures that asshat is involved with another disaster. well we're never seeing these then if he's part of this.
Don’t think it matters where the prototypes are if these figures were designed digitally like most stuff is today. There are probably multiples of those anyway since we’ve seen examples at multiple toys shows/cons on both sides of the Pacific. Also Spence likely hasn’t had anything to do with action toys for a while now after his troubles.
I’m not familiar with the licensing situation for MR. Does Bandai still own all of it (other than the GoBots-specific stuff)? I’d like to see Bandai themselves take a crack at some upscale modern MR figures. Some of the Action Toys design/engineering choices are questionable, IMO…
Huh…. Maybe they lack confidence in the brand or something. The Action Toys stuff seems to sell pretty well; you’d think Bandai would notice. Maybe the volume is just lower than what Bandai considers to be worth their trouble.
Well the prototypes they showed off where drastic departures from the original designs and weren’t well received. I thought they had potential but definitely needed some work. Hopefully they’ll give it another shot at some point. From my understanding Bandai owns the property except for the anime and its character designs, as the first few Gokin Machine Robo figures were licensed through the company that produced the anime. The most recent releases however were licensed from Bandai’s design group, PLEX.
Core seems just a tad small for me. The Legends scale that preceeded Core would be good. I'm fine with Deluxe sized too. My contention is that the figures were way to complex and fragile for their size. They were basically MP complexity level at the size of Deluxes. I want figures that feel more like standard TF Deluxe or Legends figures. Bandai already has a market outside of Japan. If they don't think they can sell enough Machine Robo figures in Japan, they can just sell them in other countries outside of Japan too.
About them selling outside of Japan, that can work. They just need to have faith which...I dunno. But now, here's some news for the Revenge of Cronos Blue-Rays: https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http...vvTsH69NOWQ_7R8hhZm76XVoJu3WvEdVjttsMuqbb0jbA It's up for orders.
