You can't have a Cy-Kill custom without Leader-1. I'll admit that I've had a bias towards Renegades, but I have to say that I find the likes of Crasher, Cy-Kill, Loco, and Screw-Head among others far more interesting.

Anyway, I'll be using the Classics SS mold as a base for L1. The key here is to make the bot mode "simpler". First, that involves getting rid of the launchers.

Second, and this will actually take a little effort, is to get the wings to fold back into each other by way of a hinge.

Third, it needs a new head. I've considered switching to a Classics Rodimus and modding it, perhaps giving it a clear visor. There's also the possibility of using a human head (e.g. GI Joe Destro) since L1 had a bald look with panels on either side. Whether or not this new head will fit into the cockpit as Strascream's did originally is to be determined.

Started some preliminary work. Popped the wings off with a soldering iron and found some suitable hinges for once I transfer the wings to the legs. They come from an Energon Stormjet.

Note: I'm using an Acid Storm because I bought a shitload of them over the summer.

You know that this is going to be awesome. I was thinking could you use the head and just modify it a little or it needs a totally new head sculpt.

I thought the main wings were attached to his legs? I was just thinking that you could just glue them there and get rid of all wing joints.

You're right, that might prove better actually. But I could still use a hinge as you can see here:

Yeah, definitely looks like leg-wings on the original figure. If it wasn't for the difference in alt mode, I'd suggest starting out with Ramjet instead, to keep the wings low.

Perhaps there's some way to attach Screamer's wings onto a Ramjet body?

    Geh, I forget how the seeker mold works anywho, Screamer's could just be left down before folding in. ^^;

not really any point to doing it that way, as you'd still end up gluing the wings in place. the attachment for ramjet is in the thrusters, which wouldn't be right at all for this jet mode. can leave the tail fins as they are, and just glue the main wings from the rear halves to the shins.

    looks promising

As a suggestion for the head, try to use Cybertron Hardtop/Swindle, the head is pretty similar :)

^Won't it be too small? I've never had a Hardtop or Swindle before. But I agree with you design-wise.

    new head for Leader-1 custom...

What about armada Blur's head? With a trim here and there, it might work...

hey satom, i've already done one of these customs a year or so ago. I did mine more show like with non-folding wings on the legs. it came out meh. If u could get the wings to fold back from the leg (toy like), I think it would look better. Also if u are still lookin for a head, try cybertron swindle's. it's a touch small, but it already resembles leader-1's dome without any modding. Can't wait to see your finished guardian! :)

edit: nap beat me to the catch about the head. ;)

A little extra mod and you could turn acid storm around so his back is leader-1's front, that is how he was built.

That's a llittle trickier than you think though, as this was discussed last year. the shoulders aren't really set up for you to do a simple arm-swap to have them facing the correct way if you want him in reverse.

Yea, I agree with the difficulty you mentioned. I want to keep the modding to a minimum, mainly concentrating on the wings and head. The torso will be tweaked a little as well.

Well, always nice to see Leader-1 and Go-Bots getting some respect.
