$30 plus tax for a voyager figure? Really? Weren't human alliance figures with way better molding, paint jobs only $30? Just look at that new Optimus prime that there calling premium or whatever. Looks horrible and I'm sure will go for $50+. Once RID toys came out I just never looked at a transformer the same and now $30 for a figure that once was $20. Wow.

    cool story bro

Also that's just Target. They also charge $17 for an RiD Warrior. Obviously that's not the case everywhere. And that "$50+" Optimus? That's probably the Voyager that'll be $30.

Also money is different now. Y'know how baby boomers go "back in my day you could buy a comic book for 30 cents!" It didn't cost the same as 30 cents does today.

I've seen them at retail for $24.99 every time, and marked up to $26.99 on BBTS and the like. Are you not in the U.S, or did you not bother doing a quick google search? I'm not a big fan of the price hike either, but at least bother to do some research if you're going to make such a petulant thread.

We don't know yet because no other stores have posted anything. I'd assume it be the same because right now last time I even bothered to look everything is $27.99 or 26.99 at Walmart in store. Haven't been to TRU in over 4 months but the prices where like $19 or $18 for a deluxe which is atrocious.

I think your real concern here is not the Transformers themselves, but whoever it is who's apparently forcing you to follow the hobby. They sound mean.

We don't know if that's going to be the MSRP/WalMart price. I say we chill out until we know one way or the other.

If they do go up to $30 usd ($40 cad) I'll do a combination of waiting for big sales (30% off at least) and simply buying fewer in order to stay in budget.

    I'd rather buy n-1 Transformers than 0.

But I will be a little pissed off. I get why prices go up, but that doesn't mean I enjoy it. I'm on a budget here.

I think it's been said that the $30 voyager in question is just a Premium Optimus Prime, right?

We don't know. Hence why it may be too early to panic and quit the hobby. :p

No one is forcing me to follow it. I look forward to the movie still just not going out and blowing $100 on release day for the toys. However my mom won't let me sell my collection or at least box it up somewhere and have a normal room. I wouldn't mind keeping my masterpiece figures but I just like how they look but I wish she'd let me sell everything else.

    I'm sorry for the negativity.
I'm not panicking. This is just the nail in the coffin at this point. Like I said I quit already 7 months ago.

I'm just teasing. I'm sorry you've quit - is it pricing or just other things taking your interest? Either way you may get back into it some day, lots of us have gone off it for a few years and then back.

It's really not simple to explain. Little under half is the price, part is my interest in other things such as shoes, other material things and also I guess my age. I know there are people older then me collecting and I'm not trying to call anyone a child or something like that but I mean I don't even feel comfortable inviting any of my new friends from highschool to sleep over or anything like that because they'd probably say why is your room like a 10 year olds. I mean there isn't a corner of my room that is TF free. I don't mind having MPs on a shelf but I feel everything else I have no reason to have and wish I could sell. It's hard on my mom and she won't let me sell any. I guess I caused this on myself by not "growing up" like all my other friends.

In short, Pricing,Change of interest and I guess you could say embarrassment has caused this.

Im kind of like you. At first (I quit the mainlines, I only keep MP, btw) I tought the toys were cheap and no good, now I realize is not that (some figures are hitting the "OK" frontier, they look like they are fun to handle (Blurr, Scourge, Glavatron) but at the price they are, I decided to get out.

Look, I know you're excited to pay more for another round of yellow shard monsters, but that doesn't mean you have to pile on those of us who aren't.

It's actually kind of sad that retail shoppers have fewer alternatives than ever. No GIJoe, a big step backwards for most of Star Wars, really rotten distribution of Marvel Legends, Mattel not even trying to deliver anything, etc. Online shopping is practically a necessity and more often than not you're paying through the nose to import from another market altogether.

    I get it.
I myself am re-evaluating my collecting.

I don't think i will ever fully quit; but I would like a smaller and more meaningful collection.

If I can ever decide what that means.

I get it. Can you put all the ones you don't want to display in some boxes or storage bins and store them somewhere? Putting the clutter into storage may help. If it was somewhere you can occasionally get them out and mess with them (if you still enjoy that) all the better. Clears your room, removes the embarrassment. And yeah, probably stop buying for now, take a break and use the money on your other hobbies. Once you're an adult you can either ignore what others think or have a room for them that guests don't see.

Why not just go exclusively 3p then?
