People have been wanting this for ages. I say Hasbro should go right ahead! It would be really cool to have all those vehicles turning into our favorite robots!

Makes sense...until you realize somebody is getting screwed by the crossover:

If the Joe figures remain to scale (3.75"), it basically means you wouldn't see any Transformer larger than the current Weaponizer class (transforming into a vehicle comparable to the Joes current Delta assortment). Which means no jets or mega-Tanks or anything.

If you put Transformers first, you'd have to do something like Human Alliance (which makes it pointless for Joe fans as the figures would be incompatible with the existing line), which also makes jets only slightly more feasible.

And that doesn't address the fact that marketing wouldn't allow them to do anything crazy like having a good guy TF character transform into a Cobra (bad guy) vehicle (So NO Optimus to HISS tank toys, ever).

A novel idea, but really not practical.

I wouldn't even bother buying them as I don't care for that other line, but I would hope something like that would happen for those that do like the two.

There's images of a concept toy floating around, which was apparently designed around 1987 by Takara, for that very purpose.

(it's nothing spectacular in case you've not seen it yet)

Rumor several years ago was G.I.Joe staff were all for it, and the Transformers staff were all against it.

PERHAPS if Human Alliance went beyond a muted success, it might be a starting point.

As it stands....i just think it's always going to be kicked down the corridor.

the way i would see a tf/gijoe crossover line working:
on the Transformers side, have Transformers characters turning into classic gi Joe vehicles but possibly maintaining their classic color schemes, at their own current size class. example: Ultra class Optimus prime that transforms into a red and blue Rolling Thunder

on the gijoe front: keep the joes their same size, and now redeco the gi joe vehicles to match the transformers line. example: a full sized Rolling Thunder in Prime's deco

also, possibly add some small Transformers characters, like rumble or laserbeak in a two pack with gijoe and have the smaller character transforming into a weapons pack. also use this crossover line to turn some classic transformers human cast into 3 and 3/4 gijoe form.

After what happened to the JP toys community after the "Joe-Rassic Park" incident (Protos got leaked, Ebayers Got sued, a potentially good toyline died a messy death), I doubt Hasbro would do a Crossover of this magnitude.
Its not just the fact that Hasbro is attempting to unite two fan groups that already have a small bit of overlap, but Hasbro would really have to figure out how to do transforming playsets again. From my limited experience with the Human Alliance toy line (HA Sideswipe with Icepick and Sgt snowdrift), Its apparent to me that Hasbro CAN do it, but the logistics of making a Transforming Playset or Vehicles for toy soldiers in the normal GI Joe Scale (3 3/4") is outside of their means in this day and age. Like I was saying about Human Alliance Sideswipe, HE IS in scale with Sgt Snowshoe, but to make it so that he can not only be a vehicle for the human figure but so the human figure can ride on his robot mode as well. Unfortunately as a result, Human Alliance Sideswipe (and I'll figure the other Human Alliance figures) is incredibly difficult to transform and much of his Vehicle form ends up as a Backpack of sorts. HA Sideswipe is about Voyager-size in Robot form in order to accommodate his human partner (Who is about two inches tall), For the GI Joe/Transformers vehicles to work at the 3 3/4" scale, The robot modes would end up being Leader-Class or larger. An entire LINE of Leader-Class or larger figures costing anywhere from $50-$89. They would shelfwarm like Nobody's business.

No as it is impossible to make one toyline that can please both fandoms with out making it too expensive for kids.

I would love to see a motorcycle or some other stealthy vehicle turn into Snake-Eyes...

Like how Marvel/Star-Wars crossovers work. If you mean just having GI Joe Toys playing around on top of transformers... i dunno.

Only if it's GI Joe vehicles transforming into named iconic Transformers characters.

Anything else, such as Joes piloting transforming mecha in their own image (like as in the Star Wars Crossovers), then no. That to me isn't a crossover with Transformers, but only a transforming vehicle toyline for another franchise.

Have a little GI Joe figure as a partner to the Transformer, sure, but not as the pilot of the TF.

They seem to have experimented with this through the last two SDCC's. First hasbro gave us the starscream skystriker and then the shockwave hiss tank. Granted these were just repaints with some cool tweaks, we havent seen a full blown transforming gi joe vehicle line. I would love to see it, but it would destroy my funds as i would have to buy everything. I am a big fan of both toylines, own a lot of the comics for both, lots of toys, this would be a much more natural crossover in my mind than transformers/star wars.

I'd love a HA style series. How about throwing in a pack in comic? As long as the Joe design isn't based on the live action movie, I'd be all over it.

Do this as a Collector's Club "experiment."

Up-scale a TF to the appropriate size to go with the Joes (Prime as a semi pulling a weapons platform and piloted by Duke, Megatron as a Cobra Rattler piloted by Cobra Commander) and include weapons for both the TF and the pilot.

See how well these do with collectors. If they are a success, release one a year at a Masterpiece price point (preferably not as a TRU exclusive)

You could include two Joes with the larger TFs and then two Joes with smaller TFs and alternate these each year.

Seems to me this is the only way to make it work.

I love it. But I think the only way it would work is in the Kre-o line.

I suggest Kre-O. They'll be releasing a GI Joe line sometime soon to go along with the movie. Plenty of Crossover potential for those who enjoy brick.

There's also that Korean [I think company] already making KO TF/Joe Brick sets. It's been mentioned in the 3rd Party forum.

i'd like to see a line using G,I. Joe tooling with variation as needed to release human & humanoid characters from the Transformers franchise. though i wouldn't mind them being a little smaller than the traditional 3.75" size figures.

I still await an official "Old Snake" toy of some kind. Admit it, you know you want to see it.
