Well, he is here. And man does he look awesome. Transformation is fine, size is great and he is big and hefty. Really glad I got him. Now only Swoop remains! 20211125_195825.jpg 20211125_195147.jpg 20211125_194422.jpg 20211125_194416.jpg

So I'm thinking would FT Soar look good with the Gigapower Dino's? How much smaller is he?

I disagree. I'm really down with Giga-swoop when you have him in hand.

I really don't like his face. Though FT is not much better. I hope Takara doesn't show up soon with their own Dinobots... :D

Ah well, if they do, I'll be happy to compare. Right now I'm in love with these guys. Even FT has nothing IMO on GP when it comes to the Dinobots.

Anyone have any ideas on a paint that would match the gold chrome on these guys?

I'm not sure that a match for gold chrome exists, at least not well enough where it wouldn't be pretty noticeable. Even the Molotow silver chrome pens aren't a perfect match, and that's the best paint option out there for silver chrome. I don't think a gold equivalent to that exists, but maybe there's a Gundam marker that comes close? If I'm wrong, then I'd also love to know what's out there.

    Does anyone know:

    (a) if the original metallic versions of the Gigapower Dinobots will be re-issued, or else
    (b) if the metallic versions ever pop up on occasion for resale, pre-owned?

I'd like to in particular find a Grassor or Graviter because I really liked my Slag and Sludge toys as a kid, but I want the non-chrome versions so that they include the transparent cover pieces to mimic the original toys. I'd probably eventually be interested in Gutter as well, because Snarl was the one Dinobot toy I couldn't find back in the 80s. I had avoided these toys in the past because of their size and cost, but the MP line has gone down the tubes with cartoon accuracy and I'm not interested in as many figures these days. I've saved up enough to maybe splurge on more expensive toys so I can continue to wallow in nostalgia.

The chrome versions have the transparent pieces (though they are smokey rather than clear).

Ah, cool, thanks. Perhaps it's just the weathered versions that lack the transparent covers?

That opens up my options considerably. Much appreciated!

I do want to point out that while the rest of the pieces secure just fine, the head coverings on Sludge and Snarl just kinda rest on the head. For Slag it snaps on securely, but the others fall off rather easily. Again, its just the head, and just on the two figures (so far; I have yet to open up Grimlock or get Swoop).

That's good to know, thank you. If I like the look I could always secure them permanently, because it's the toy aesthetic I'm shooting for. As for Grimlock and Swoop, I don't think I have enough interest in them to warrant the cost. Sludge is probably my most wanted, and I can still pick it up new.

    I appreciate the first-hand observations!

Yes, thank you. @Mister D confirmed that as well. I think I was remembering a review I'd seen of the weathered versions, which I believe don't include them. I think I prefer the finish of the metallic versions, but it seems that the chrome ones are more readily available, and I'm going for a G1 toy look anyway. Damn, that's a lot of money for a TF figure, though.

Does anyone know if there's a way to tighten Grassor's wings? Mine are a tad loose and I would love to stiffen them up, preferably without floor polish.

Anybody willing to part with one of the new Grassor heads?
