I don’t think that’s the linkage or the . . . bar . . . it’s attached to. I have a similar looking right ankle inside the leg and that material feels a little bit tacky. Maybe that’s something used to stiffen up that joint?

Oh damn. One of mine looks that way as well. Do you think it's plastic wearing away? Or maybe some wear caused during assembly?

I'm kinda considering adding some silicone lube but the fact that it's only one ankle makes me think it might be happened during assembly rather than from use.

Oh. That's an interesting idea too. Hmmm.

On an unrelated note, is Gigapower making anything else?

Allegedly GP will finish their weathered metallic set as well. I tried to get in late on that set and got scammed so that's how I ended up getting these chrome guys. I got my money back from the scam - so ultimately all that changed was the color of my bots lol.

As far as I know, negative. There was rumor a few months back that these reissues weren’t *actually* GP, but who ever now owns the molds. No idea the validity of that beyond ‘unlikely’.

Do we know anything about the company? Like who owns them? Who they collab with? Anything?

Members have often said that GP is also C9 (as in C9 Quakeblast). Others have often stated that GP is a Gundam KO company first and foremost and a 3P transformer company second - I cant remember the exact 4P Gundam company name though.

That looks like a piece of flash and would wipe off, other than that it looks normal in there to me.

    Just got this guy in.

As someone who was completely stoked for the rereleased chrome Dinibots, and was looking forward to Swoop most of all, this final figure seriously underwhelms me.

For one thing, whoever designed tiny Pterodactyl die-cast heel spurs that bear the entire weight of the figure on their corners - and also don't sit flat on a table - should be fired. Swoop has already put a massive scratch into a nice wooden table because his feet are like metal awls.

Second, the connecting pegs for the wing rockets are woefully inadequate. These things have a tiny peg that has to fit into a slick, chromed hole that's far too shallow. The rockets fall off if you wink at them.

Finally, on my copy, the ptero chest part that's supposed to plug into the flight stand pops partially off when attached to the stand - the resultant shift in weight when the piece pops loose causes the figure to immediately fall off the stand entirely. (Let alone the fact that the stand attachment method sucks anyway, it's loose and lacks any kind of firm snap-in connection.)

After the first 4 of these figures (which are bleeding fantastic), man, did they stumble on Swoop. I can't believe that Gigapower face-planted right before the finish line.

Can anyone that already has this figure confirm that this part is broken on mine? (Also, are the silver tummy buttons supposed to be releases for spring-loaded parts, or are they just there to help the stand attachment?)

Damn, sucks to hear all that but right off, the piece in the pic does look out of place and the section that looks like a tab was there leads me to believe it's broken. Those buttons release his lats when going into bot mode. They are sprung and lock in place for alt mode and those snap them out.

Edit: so I was playing around with mine yesterday and tried the stand attachment for mine to have the same results as yours! Now I'm not sure if it's broken or just a stupid/poor design! That piece covering the buttons clearly has a spot that looks like more of a tab should be there but its smooth and painted over like it was molded that way. Maybe it wasn't molded correctly and it was intended to have more of an edge to snap in place because I feel it grabbing but there isn't enough material to firmly hold it in place especially being the mount point for holding him on a stand, which as you stated doesn't have it's own secure feeling as well! This is a recipe for disaster! Maybe when I feel like it, I can take him apart and apply a slight build up of two part epoxy around that tab area so it will have more security cuz I don't trust using the stand with multiple insecure points. The left side of that piece is super solid, I cant move it, just the right side easily comes undone.

Pretty much happy with mine. I have that spot inside the ankles but I think it’s lube. I did notice both of those armatures inside the ankles are the same on both sides rather than being mirrored. Doesn’t affect the outward symmetry or balance or poseability so I assumed Giga saved some costs by using two of the same part where they could get away with it. I’m having trouble finding an Autobot sticker that will stay stuck to the beak. And I tried three of them. I also am going to need to do something about the uncolored dino mode eyes but I think I’ll delegate that task to my daughter when she comes back from college in a week. She’s good at tracing outlines and templates and stuff like that.

Here’s a pic along with some group shots. The shade of blue they used is really a highlight. Probably not toon accurate but I think slavish toon accuracy is vastly overrated. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this same chromed shade of blue on a figure before, and certainly not this much of it covering this big of a figure. It’s unique and really stands out, while being close enough to the cartoon to satisfy me.

I sincerely hope everyone in the red Swoop camp gets some love from Giga Power soon. And I also hope we all get some kind of improved face sculpt if and when they do a weathered version of Swoop.

My copy has the same issue. I didn't notice it until I put him on the flight stand. Once I took him off again, one side of this chestpiece popped out. I think it was somewhat glued into place first. Now I'm afraid the spring loaded mechanism will push it out completely if I'm not careful.

Also be careful when transforming the head. A good piece of red paint chipped off just above his temple when I tried to transform him into alternate mode.

Fortunately I've found out that you can carefully switch the faceplates. So I have one pristine head left.

Every time there's an update I'm checking to see if the Red version is getting a reissue XD

I do wish he had a better face sculpt, that (and the arms being a bit short) are really my main complaints with him.

Ffs....mines in for a customs inspection. That's already £16 plus added to the cost, assuming it doesn't get binned/stolen.

Swoop has finally flown in, and he is a magnificent beast (apart from the constipated robot face)
