Since last I heard, Hasbro has opted against making any playsets at the moment, which I feel is a missed opportunity. I took it upon myself to create a play/ display set centerpiece to compliment the amazing work done in the Classified line. My 1st attempt is the Cobra Surveillance Port. Measuring in at 18" X 16" X 11" when in the closed position, this beast opens up to an impressive 28" wide X 18" deep X 9 1/2" tall (22" to top of radar). Some of the many features I included in this piece are: - Push button, spring loaded main door and security arm - Hand turned, elevating radar shaft with real metal, rotating radar dish - Electronic lights and sound on both the world map and HUD display - Sliding middle access door - Weapons storage next to main door - Hand painted details and custom decals - Landing pad - Multiple play and display areas - Elevating carry handle - Search light and accent tree I also created a custom Viper Bike to go along with this set, as I felt that any great playset should always include a number of accessories to add to the play value. I know the pictures don't really do justice to seeing this in person but let me know what you think as I have several other ideas in mind to complete before winter.
I started with an old Major Powers base (the figures with magnets in their hands), disassembled and primed, then painted with Krylon spray paints. The radar dish was an old metal spinning top that I cut down. I was hoping to find something more oval like the original, but for the 1st attempt, I thought it worked out ok. Once the pieces cured, I reassembled the base, and hand painted all the small details. The decals are a combination of stickers and print outs. Other bits and pieces were used from various things for the searchlight and small side radar dish. The greenery on the base is actually repurposed Spy Troops gear and the motorcycle was from something I found at a thrift store that I thought would work well as another accessory with the base. It was a pleasant surprise that the gate can accommodate all the Classified vehicles so far, aside from the HISS, of course. When I started this, I was initially only looking to do a display piece for the figures.
