Yeah, you'd want to ditch the included thrower on a Spirit pack, but the Spengler wand doesn't look bad on there at all. The Spengler simply attaches with a dixie cup holder, unlike the originals. Another thing in favor of Spirit packs: super light weight. An accurate hero pack weighs around 40-45 pounds.
I might use the Hasbro Blaster mod toy for my pack if I ever get around to buying the Spirit Halloween Pack
Man... I really wanted the Retro Ghostbusters Ecto-1, but seems like it was super limited to online release.
Sir, your pack is god tier. The accuracy with the vintage parts and such is insane. Consider me jealous Thank you for the Spirit pack tip. I could work like a good fill in, yes. Are they widely available? Once I saw Hasbro's Spengler wand, my thought was that they would release a pack later on of matching quality. I wonder if this could still happen..
Thank you! Yes, it's pretty easy to buy a Spirit proton pack. There are some pretty cool upgrades to give them light and sound FX, and one of the GB community's main electronics guys (who sells many of the kits on Ebay) is currently prototyping a new circuit board designed to interface with the Spengler wand and allow it to control the pack lights. If you think you may go this route and you haven't already bought a Spengler wand, I'd do that before getting the Spirit pack. The wands are getting kind of scarce. They have fairly impressive functionality, so it's a decent way to go.
I bought a nice used Ecto 500 a while back, but the extendable hoses on the engine were broken. Glued them together but they didn't work or look very good. Today at a 2nd-hand toy store, Smash Collectibles in Park Ridge, I found the engine with intact hoses for $5! Huzzah!
In shops Oct 27, 2021, available for Pullbox pre-order: GHOSTBUSTERS BLACK AND GREEN SUNGLASSES (JUL219759) GHOSTBUSTERS TRAP INCENSE BURNER (JUL219760) GHOSTBUSTERS WHITE AND RED SUNGLASSES (JUL219761) TUBBZ GHOSTBUSTERS EGON SPENGLER COSPLAY DUCK (JUL219779)
I picked up the new Ecto-1 the other day and some of the stickers just wont stay, well....stuck. What kind of glue can I use that wont wreck the plastic to get these things to stay where I put them?
Depends on how permanent you want the bond to be, but your local crafts store should have a bunch of spray adhesives in varying strengths that will work. Probably better to go with a less-sticky one, like this: https://www.amazon.com/3M-Spray-Artists-Adhesive-MMM6065/dp/B00006IFBF
Got the trap a few weeks ago off amazon, the level of detail isn't bad but the trap itself is small. the trap is at least half the size of a full sized trap and maybe even slightly smaller than that. Because of its small size the only incense it can burn are the tiny cones. It cannot burn sticks, waxes or oils
The ecto -1 is back in stock on the Walmart app if anyone needs it. Got mine shipped in like 2 days free. Cant beat that
Hasbro Pulsecon is on Oct 22nd. Chances of a proton pack targeted at collectors being announced? To match with Spengler's nutrona wand?
I'd say... 20% at best. While the pack COULD connect with the spengler wand, it can't interact with it. Unlike the old Matty Collector proton thrower, there's no input/output port on this one (no, seriously! Mattel DID have plans for a proton pack! There are fan-made electronics kits that can connect to that old thrower seamlessly). Also, a full sized pack is larger than you'd imagine and there'd be outrage by the community if they undersized it like the Spirit Halloween packs are. A collector's grade PKE Meter/Taser or a ghost trap is much more likely especially since the trap has some options to go along with it. They could add in an RTV base or let the buyer keep it stock as seen in GB1 or GB2 with swappable side rods (they were red in GB1 and silver in GB2). Hell, if it does HALF the things the Mattel ghost trap does, they'd have an insane amount of demand for it. Also... I don't want them to put out a pack since I'm halfway done with 3D printing a new one XD
Huh. Zero in.the way of new figures? A GB2 wave seems like a no brainer. The fact that it hasn't happened yet is weird.
I could see them doing a boxset, kinda like how Mattel did their GB2 line. Peter and Egon in the dark suits, Ray and Winston in khaki and have 4 proton packs and 4 slime blowers since the new proton packs are removable.... I could pipe dream ideas for a toy line for hours. I'm wondering if they're waiting to see the success of Afterlife before giving the green light on new stuff. I mean, the original movies have had 2 figure lines that did real well and from what I can tell, this offering by Hasbro is at least doing decently... but there's only so much they can do. I really don't want to see Neon Street Luge Venkman just to pad out the toy line...
Well, aside from GB2, they could also do stuff from RBG in Plasma Series. Personally I'd love Lewis and Vigo from GB2 and Janine from RBG. You may be right about them waiting to see the reaction to Afterlife and it's two waves in Plasma Series before they commit to more though. I wonder if Answer the Call would be on their radar at all?
Not to dive into THAT discussion too much, but I feel like if Ghost Corp had been in the position it's in now when that movie was being made (it was only JUST founded mid-way through production), I feel like we would've gotten a tighter movie. (I don't hate the movie and I like some of what was done in it, but a good chunk is just... not my thing). There's some prop auction going on in the UK and, before they were pulled, a TON of props from ATC were being auctioned off (all four 'final' jumpsuits and a couple hero mk II and mk III proton packs and a few other bits of hardware), so I don't think we'll be visiting that particular corner of the GB universe again (or at least anytime soon). Ghostbusters is one of those franchises that's really hard to make toys for as, originally, you only had four characters the masses would really want to collect and there are MANY ways to get those. Louis, Janine, Dana, Gozer and the two terror dogs (Vinz Clortho and zuul) are obvious secondary figures as well as any other ghosts they want to make. GB2 runs into the same issue, but there you can get two or three versions of the core four 'busters (khaki suits, dark suits, court room suits for the original 3). It's not like GI Joe or Transformers where there was this endless line of characters you can make with simple repaints or troop building, so they might be wanting to stretch out the Plasma line by drip feeding us figures and props over the next few years.
