Odd. I simply asked an associate for them & he brought me 2 each of Ray & Peter to look over the paint apps. (others sold out). This was actually the second case they’ve received this month. Depends on which Target I suppose.
Not sure if it's been spotted in US retail, but I heard Retro Collection of Ghostbusters have been spotted in Canada. Real Ghostbusters Retro Collection Released in Canada - ActionFigureNews.ca - Canadian Action Figure News and Discussion
Well, I blew most of my toy budget for June already. I went to 2 Walmarts yesterday and I found 5 of the 6 Real Ghostbusters reissues. Now I just have to find Ray. So far, I only opened Venkman. I'm impressed with the quality. The proton packs appear to be made of much sturdier plastic. The attachment on the back is completely different than the original, but done sturdier. The arms are a softer, more flexible plastic than the originals. I'm sure that was done so that the arms don't cause stress on the proton guns. The only thing that still worried me was that snapping the gun to the backpack was still too tight for comfort. I just shaved some plastic off one of the pegs so it could snap on and off easier. The nostalgia factor is so strong with these figures. Honestly, Peter Venkman might make my top 10 list of favorite toys released this year. It's very rare for me to be so ecstatic about reissues. But given the fragile nature of the vintage proton packs, I would say these new figures are vastly improved over their vintage counterparts. On a side note, I wish we could get the 4 main Ghostbusters recolored in their Ghostbusters 2 uniforms. I always thought it was strange that Kenner released an Ecto 1a back in the day with the Ghostbusters 2 logo but didn't release figures in their Ghostbusters 2 uniforms.
My Plasma at Amazon went to Delivery Date pending. Zuul and Gozer will be here, tomorrow. Thanks for shipping the two least wanted .
Yep, some Targets are cooler than others. I remember getting many of the 25th Joes ahead of street date because a few of the employees would help me out knowing I drove halfway across the state to get there. Saw the Kenner Slimer and Staypuft figures. Pretty neat. Hasbro must be making a killing on these low PoA nearly forty year old figures.
It's more of who is working at the time. When the DC Mcfarlane's was coming out one target had some and the lady did some magic at the self checkout to purchase them. Another Target had the rest and customer service was like "this is street dated I'll take them, you can come back on the 1st".
Definitely. I've had both experiences at both Target and Walmart. I tried to buy a recently released TF at a Walmart a couple years ago (one of the POTP legends, I think) that wasn't in the system when I went to the checkout. The guy asked me how much it was supposed to cost and I told him $10...he winked and said, "today it's $5". Lol...
Gozer the Gozerian, Gozer the Destructor, Volguus Zildrohar, the Traveller has come! Meh, I like my Diamond dogs, better. They just ran down the spine of The torso, with silver paint. I give Gozer a 5. She needs a wash, and pearlescent bubbles. I like Richard Simmons Zuul, more than Brozer. Not shaping up to be a hit, out the gate. Sucks.
How'd you get him to hold the neutrona wand? I can't get mine to hold it for more than a few seconds.
Got the figures I was denied last week. I had tried to buy Peter and Winston but was told street date was today & they'd hold the 2 for me. They had another Peter and Dana on the pegs with 4 in the back. Went totally expecting them to not have held them but they did. Yay Target! So I went back to toys and no others on the pegs. I asked a worker and she said they had 6 in the back. She brought them out & decided might as well get the others since I know I'd eventually get them anyways. So I'm guessing there are 8 figures per case. 1x Winston 1x Egon 1x Dana 1x Gozer 2x Peter 2x Ray
I'll give the swivel thing a shot, I really don't want to break the fingers by stretching them out too much.
Picked up Venkman from the Plasma series (mostly as an impulse), and I'm sort of underwhelmed by him. To me they're not a clear enough improvement over the old Mattel versions (of which I have a complete collection). The plastic looks and feels cheaper, and the likenesses aren't as good as they should be (IMO) given what's being done on other similarly-scaled toys these days. I'll probably at least pick up Gozer and Dana, to have posable versions of those two (and my first Gozer). And once I have all those, well, I'll likely be tempted to just get the other three GB's to round out the BAF lineup (though even the BAF Terror Dog is a step down from the Diamond Select version). But I'm not enjoying the first figure like I hoped to, and would rather get the others on sale if that's ever possible.
