The feeling I got was something of a cross between Ghostbusters and E.T. By that I mean they're perhaps going for a more serious story, but it will have enough comedy moments so as to not feel too "heavy" on the viewer. If it's done right, it could work. And I hope it works. I didn't bother with Girlbusters only because nothing about it struck the right tone with me.

    This?

    My interest is piqued.

I want to know what happened to Igon and how all their stuff ended up at that location. I'm wondering if the thing that's causing the earthquakes is actually the ghost "prison" from their headquarters, perhaps buried there and breaking down after years without maintenance. We'll see...

So, the Hollywood fad of rebooting things with women leads has been replaced with the new fad of rebooting all the things with stranger things-esque things?

Sounds better already, judging by the trailer. I'm in. Looks WAY more fun than all the female reboots of all the things.

I wasn't specifically talking about Star Wars. It is a fairly common thing that hack writers do. The last terminator did something similar to Sarah Conner. I am just happy it doesn't seem to be another case here, as it pushes the old fans away.

    passing-the-torch movie? Nice.

    The trailer was interesting.

    Unlike the 2016 trailer.

Seeing the original ecto-1 was really cool.

They already did that trope between the first two movies.

People keep telling me no one liked Ghostbusters II. Is, is that accurate or was it just a sequel people thought was okay but not great?

Just a friendly reminder that this is not a Star Wars thread. Let's try to keep it that way, folks.

Yeah that was a news clip. What I got from it was not that no one thinks it never happened but no one cares anymore. Yeah that cool but it was 30 years ago so who cares. Kids today don't care or even now anything about it like many real life news stories.

Yeah you made the statue walk but that was 30 years ago. So what that's old news. Thats what i got from it. Jurassic world was going to use the same tone in it's early draft. "A dino. Big deal. Seen it. Boring." That lead to them making the new dino as people were bored of the old ones!

That's the tone i was getting. Also part 2 took place 1n 1989 so that's still 80s and he said new york was like the walking dead in the 80s.

The only trouble is the videogame as it's in the 90s and the comics as they went on into the 90s also.

I personally prefer the first one (but I don't hate the second one), but I work with a guy who prefers the second, mostly because he likes Janosz. To each their own.

Ghostbusters II is a funny one. It's supposed to be known as a hated movie but everybody likes it.

I thought if you wanted to be cool, you diss GB2.

I like both movies equally. I'll keep my opinion on Answer the Call to myself.

Maybe people who watched it for the first time as adults with some weight of expectations were annoyed with it for whatever reason, but I think most who watched it as kids had a good time, and can probably still enjoy it or at least parts of it.

It's basically more of the same. A reasonably competent formula rehash. It's not the sort of movie you put up on a pedestal, but I don't find anything majorly wrong with it.
