I've been avoiding that like hell because I don't need that negativity in my life even though Cinema Sins is mostly beating the horse gags and stuff. Though I did notice in their description that even they were pretty annoyed with how many requests for them to do GB they got.
Gonna counter that with the news that IDW will be doing a mini series set after the film!!! oh happy day!
I haven't clicked on the video above but I'm just assuming it's the movie in its entirety.
Your generic Cinema Sins stuff. As usual, the YouTube comment section proves they are piranhas.
I think he does a fair assessment of the 'sins' in the movie. The movie does have some serious flaws, but no worse than, say, Alien: Covenant.
Not exactly a good thing to compare it with if trying to find saving grace.
Haven't caught the latest Ghostbusters #101, to be honest the story isn't really anything special, I'm just here for more of the 2016 crew (who are written well).
Boy, Plinket was rather expedient with this one, wasn't he?
Or did he wait until after it was on STARZ for a few months?
I was gonna say, seems a bit... delayed?
Probably wanted to avoid drama.
I'm glad he took his time with it -- he made a lot of really good points, I thought.
Meh, I don't really think RLM are the type of guys who'd delay a video for the sake of avoiding Internet drama. If they have something to say, they'll bloody say it regardless of whatever feedback they get. And it's not like they were waiting for it to come out on streaming, the preview vid from earlier clearly shows that they own the Bluray.
I think the delay here is that RLM is a big channel, with multiple shows and projects going on at the same time. Mike has also said that writing the scripts, doing the Plinkett voice, editing etc. All take time to get right. And even so, don't forget that they delayed the TFA review for months, so we should be happy for any Plinkett content at all.
Anyway, solid review. Funny, yet insightful, harsh, focused and to the point, with sub-plot stuff and skits that are part of the criticisms. The juxtaposing of scenes from the original compared to the remake clearly shows how subpar the new one is by comparison, and RLM's editing skills effectively show why the movie is bad instead of just listing of reasons it's bad. This video reinforces why I'm such a big RLM fan, not only are they clearly extremely knowledgable about the art of filmmaking, they have their own unique style and brand of humour that no one else really has. And never once was the culture controversy mentioned; just the deconstruction and examination of the movie/franchise itself.
Watched it. I never watched the movie but the review made me so guilty. I don't get what's funny about this review.
Surprised you liked the review with your avatar and signature.
Oh I haven't watched it, and don't really plan to. Just thought it was odd that the review came this late.
It's the fastest Plinkett has ever done a review. Usually the movies in the Plinkett reviews are years old.
If you have the time, you should check it out. I know you like the movie, but he's actually quite fair in his assessment on both a the movie by itself, and comparing it to the original.
The issues aren't with the main cast, and he acknowledges that -- and he even places the blame for no GB3 squarely at the feet of Bill Murray. Which, true or not, is a pretty bold swing...
TL;DR - he doesn't like the movie, but he makes a lot of good points as to why he feels that way.
He's always fair, and his points -- even the ones I don't agree with -- are always well reasoned.
Ah thanks. I'll think about it, my interest was piqued when it was mentioned he went after the movie itself and not all the mess around it.
