... as well as Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed! ASSASSIN'S CREED And SPLINTER CELL Set For Late 2014? GHOST RECON Adaptation Confirmed Now all we need is a GOD OF WAR and a SONIC film and we're good to go!
A God of War movie is in the works with the writers of Saw. In regards to this, a Ghost Recon movie sounds awesome. Ubisoft will definitely be the one to break the game-to-movie curse with the movies and creative control they have lined up. Ghost Recon has a chance to succeed. Tom Hardy's Splinter Cell could be great. If done right, Michael Fassbender's Assassin's Creed movie could be fantastic and possibly be my movie of the year. I am really happy that Ubisoft is following the Marvel Studios formula. If they succeed, they could open the door for other video game movies like Uncharted or Mass Effect. I'm also holding out hope that the Need For Speed movie could be good.
I've been waiting for a Splinter Cell movie since Chaos Theory. It sounds like Ubisoft is taking this pretty seriously, I'm hoping the films turn out much better than Prince of Persia.
It could work if animated; (Mass Effect: Paragon Lost, Dead Space: Downfall and Aftermath, Resident Evil: Degeneration and Damnation, and Halo: Legends).
Mass Effect would not make a great movie for a couple of reasons, primarily the way the game works is that Shepards decisions are yours. A movie about Captain Anderson and his jaunt as the first (trial run) human SPECTRE against Saren would be cool though. Prince of Persia wasn't that bad; Jake Gyllenhall may look as much like a Persian (or even a peasant of their many fiefdoms) as I look a Ford Thunderbird, but the swashbuckling was great, the comedy relief was funny and our villains easy to hate. I suppose the greatest criticism for it is that there wasn't that much special about it at all.
