It looks like the bros at Sucker Punch is cooking up another potential GOTY contender? A sequel to the critically acclaimed 'Ghost of Tsushima' that takes place 300 years after the first game, during the Tokugawa Period... starring Atsu. This is the exact sort of thing we needed after that horrible borderline offensive Assassins Creed game.
I am fucking here for it. Ghosts of Tsushima was an absolutely phenomal game and I can only see them going up from here. If the game can top this, it will be game of the decade for me IMO.
Not going to lie, part of me is disappointed we don't get a little more of Jin and his crew, but I am down. I trust this game way more than assassins creed in every way. It looks to be more of the same and I am all down for that with some new upgrades. I just hoped they learned to actually have different proper classes and playstyles this time around.
The cast of the first game was genuinely great, so I can fully understand missing them. But I'm glad they're allowing Jin's story to have a proper ending, plus... you know, new period, new conflicts, I can imagine due to the advancements in combat there'll be some great new gameplay features. Etc.
Don't get me wrong, I am all down for some new Samuari and Ronin weapons, but Jin and his crew were such an unexpected hidden gem that it is very understandable to want a little more and that's the main complaint I have seen so far. I definitely am very curious to see what else progresses in the game because I am very curious to see if this will have the Horizon effect, i.e. first game was kinda rough but they really nailed and polished it in the second. One of my biggest wants would be more causal open world stuff, i.e. more things to do like fishing, hunting, more open world interactions and hell, I would be open if they went down the property path where you can own land and maybe even start your own crew on different locations or even battlefields. I know it's just a cinematic essentially so I am VERY curious to see whee they go as far as game mechanic improvements
It's not made by the same team, so I would temper your expectations. No one cares what the idiots on Twitter/reddit/tumblr think of ANYTHING.
Well the upshot of the three hundred year gap is it leaves some wiggle room so if they do want to revisit Tsushima later, they can.
Since they revealed they are going the Ghost as a concept route and not Jin, they can go many routes there. Hell, they got that whole time period between, they could go even earlier than Jin and really find the origins of the samurai or ghost, or they could go super late to the last samurais and have some pretty weird standoffs of like samurais vs cowboys vs pirates vs calvary type of deal if they truly wanted to stick to more historical time periods.
Well this is a tad bit awkward: A Japanese student explains an important Ghost of Yotei historical error found in the trailer
Well we are none of us perfect. I guess they'll either patch it later, or just accept that its an error and its here to stay.
This post is sponsored by Ubisoft On a serious note, my assumption on why they are calling it Yotei and not the others is because that's what it might be most known as is my assumption or they are going to pull the most epic uno reverse card and call them by the proper names and the new Ghost, the ghost of yotei and thus creating the legend of the ghost of yotei which slowly influences people to even call it yotei. Or they just slowly home Simpson meme into the bush and just roll with it and not acknowledge it
