I really don't see the problem. I don't care abou the box. I preordered it before there even WAS a box. PS. Nevermore, isn't that the GF issue? I mean, people say that Takara protos and test shots don't leak, but we know that it does in fact happen sometimes.
Box looks cool but I'm not going to impulse buy it just for the box. I'm just fine waiting for the Hasbro version.
I like the box. This would be one of the rare times when a box is a deciding factor on a purchasing decision. But that's just me. I don't know why people are fighting over each other's purchasing decisions. Sheesh.
The box is cool looking. I look forward to seeing the photoshoots that are comming when the GF version starts shipping. If I decide to get a Primus it will be the Hasbro one. It just isn't worth it to me to import this or to have two of him. This is my decision. We all have a decision to make. None of these decisions are wrong. Make up your own mind. It is only a toy after all.
That badboy will be in my possession, once Hasbro releases it in the US. That is very impressive. I really like the figure all around. The colors are perfect for this figure.
I really have to say, I don’t get the love for the box. It strikes me as very similar to 20th Anniversary Prime - yes, it's G1, but it's not done well. Why is the autobrand so close to the logo leaving a large gap at one side? Why is there so much empty space around Primus? Why are there two random feature pictures of the alt mode in such a random place, and why is one bigger than the other in such a cackhanded fashion? Why hasn't the G1 crosscheck style been modernised? Even back in G1 Hasbro's graphic designers knew you tried to cover as much of the pattern up as possible, because it looks really tacky if there's too much of it. Why is there no photo of the robot mode? Heck, it's like Takara completely forgot all the good stuff they did with the Galaxy Force boxes. This might sell okay to G1 collectors, but I think they'd have bought it anyway, and this really won’t work to sell the thing to kids. Generally I think the "Takara's marketing doesn't know what they're doing" thing is complete bullshit, but this is certainly one time I think they've committed sales suicide. Phazer
Ditto, not so much becasue of the cost of having two of the toy, but the fact that a repaint is inevitable and space is running out. As for suggestions that the G1 themed box will limited sales... I'd guess Takara have a fair idea sales on this will be limited anyway.
i'll concede your comments on the layout and whatnot. but consider the size. the biggest g1 packaging we've had for retros has been predaking, but it doesnt even come close to the sheer awesomeness of the g1 citybot packaging; i have a trypticon box. its almost twice the size of pred's box. this is like getting a boxed fort max in the modern line. i dont consider the 20th anv. box too strong a g1 homage with the shaped box and large window.
No one (outside of Hasbros TF design team) knows for sure... Given that Takara could have found out about Aaron Archers comment at Botcon and added whatever he was planning to have included, it's possible be that there are no exclusive USA items anymore.
Speculation is that it's either the moons which were used against Starscream or the Noah. After the detail they put into it in the cartoon, I'm leaning torwards Noah..... but we'll see
I agree on the sales suicide, but that has more to do with this being released months after Galaxy Force is off the air. Japan doesn't rerun this show. That's it. Primus should have been for sale in September of last year, regardless of the tacky box.
