Getting back into TF toys thanks to Titans Return/Combiner Wars. A question...

Transformers the movie and all the characters introduced in it are my favorite TF related material. I was at Walmart today and saw Titans Return Scourge and Galvatron, along with Combiner Wars Cyclonus.

Those three characters were always my favorite Decepticons and these toys are so faithful to the G1 series that they may as well be tiny Masterpiece toys. (Well... Cyclonus isn't in robot mode, but his vehicle form is great) I couldn't help myself and I got all three.

    So, the question:
The only thing that could make me happier right now would be knowing whether or not there is a similar toy coming/already released for Rodimus Prime. (Not Hot Rod/Hot Rodimus. I know, I'm crazy. I actually WANT the flaming Winnebago) So forgive my ignorance for not knowing the answer, as I've been out of the loop for years. But could someone tell me if there is a "mini-masterpiece" G1 inspired Rodimus Prime coming?

There is MP-9 and DX-9 Carry. MP-9 is fragile, but Carry is a nice, sturdy figure.

No I don't mean I want an actual Masterpiece toy. I was just saying the Titans Return/Combiner Wars toys are so good for a G1 fan that they remind me of tiny Masterpiece toys.
I'd love MP-09 but I don't have that kind of cash.

Oh, okay. That's disappointing to hear. I really hope they do it. Is there another series coming out after Titans Return?
I gotta say I'm loving the return of Targetmasters/Headmasters.

If you don't need the space truck mode, get mp28, he's voyager size. A comparison pic can be found in my legends Galvatron review thread.

Probably the CLOSEST thing to what you are looking for is the Titanium figure from 2007 that is supposedly getting a re-issue in the Platinum line soon:
Hot Rod/toys - Transformers Wiki (scroll down a ways)

By all accounts though, it's not a particularly fantastic figure. I would love to see this idea executed at Voyager (or even leader) scale. I cannot believe after all this time that Rodimus Prime hasn't gotten a proper update.

Also FYI, if your not up on your TF minutia: Hasbro lost the name Hot Rod for a while as a trademark, so most modern figures were called Rodimus (not Prime), but recently got it back, so Titans Return is Hot Rod. Hot Rodimus was Hot Rod's Japanese name.

    Welcome back, AristoMatt!
I hear you on this. I think the space Winnebago has been woefully underserved. As the folks mentioned above, there's nothing slated for a new/modern Roddimus figure.

Not sure if this helps at all but the 1986 toy was reissued about 10 years back. I suspect it wouldn't be horribly pricey to obtain. Just be warned (in case you didn't remember), that toy looks fantastic in truck mode but the robot mode is kind of a stick figure. I adored it as a kid but man...they didn't try too hard on that toy. :)

As others have mentioned, there is a Masterpiece option...it sounds like you didn't want to go that way but if you were even tempted, read up on the MP-9 fragility issues. It's an amazing figure but it is known to break spontaneously on the shelf. :O

Yeah... not feeling that one. Too boxy.

Actually have that re-issue. One of my prized possessions and of course I keep it in vehicle mode. :)

yep. That's why i'd love a modern, larger take on the basic concept.

With how much the new TR Voyager Optimus Prime folds up and compresses his truck into robot mode, i think you could pull off something similar and awesome with a self-contained Rodimus Prime.

If you ever suddenly come into money, check out DX-9 Carry as others have mentioned. It's larger than you're looking for at a much higher price than you're considering, but it is also probably the most impressive, beautiful Rodimus Prime figure ever produced, with an all-in-one transformation. There are a lot of video reviews on youtube, if you're curious. The figure's style is based on the Studio OX G1 artwork from the 1980s.

Since I started collecting I've been looking and waiting for a modern Voyager Rodimus Prime. And the wait continues. And I never tire asking for one.

Oh no. Is this what I'm in for? Haha. I assumed since they seem to be doing most of the TF movie characters again that he'd be coming too.

That is an excellent choice for someone who is looking for something both expensive AND ugly. Great as a space Winnebago, to be fair, but hideous as a robot.

yeah, i don't feel like that kit has aged very well, and like most 3P, there's just something off about the head.
