Topic says it all folks. I'm getting an 80GB model, and at present the only thing I have hooked up to my computer is my Wii (via Nintendo's WiFi connector).

Wireless router, and you'll be all set. Not sure if the Nintendo Wifi dongle will work with the PS3.

Isn't it possible to plug the PS3 up to a modem/router using a ethernet cable?

If you have a wireless router, you're set. Otherwise I have no idea. The PS3 has a built in wifi adaptor.

Hmmm... so what's a good, cheap, wireless router that would be capable enough to work with a PS3?

It comes with an ether net cable, all you gotta do is plug it in.

One more question... I know the PS3 plays PS2 games, but does it also play PS1 games? I'm kinda debating whether I want to sell off my last two generations of PS consoles when I get this and this info would help.

Kinda hard to just "plug in" a PS3 via cable when the computer is in another room from where it will be hooked up.

Yep! And if you have a PSP, you can remotely play the PS1 games in your PS3 on your PSP.

Hmmm... this is seeming like a better and better idea all the time. Better call my nephew about selling my PS2 to him.

    A couple more questions...

Does the PS3 have ports for the PS1/PS2 controllers, or are they now controlled with the wireless Sixaxis? Also... this may be a dumb question, but there are memory card slots for the PS1/PS2 cards, correct?

There are adapters you can get to use your old PS2 controllers and to upload info from your old memory cards. Also the PS3 has internal memory for PS1/PS2 games if you want to start games all over and not use a card at all. The Six axis can also be used to play old games, but youll miss out on the rumble feature.

Where did you find an 80 GB model?

I don't see any around where I live at all.

Also of note. If you buy the PS memory card adapter and copy all of those files into the PS3, not only will those saves work on your old games, but they will work on the games downloadable through the store.

For example, I downloaded CastleVania and Wild Arms for PS1 and my old saves worked on those downloaded games, as well as gave me the ability to move those saves into the PSP and back, so I could take the save and game with me on the road, then move it back to the PS3 to play the game on the big screen and continue where I left off. Just be careful to keep track of where your most recent save is. After putting down Wild Arms for a couple of weeks, I almost moved my PSP save into the PS3 over the old one and didn't realize that my most recent play was on PS3. There is a date on there to compare, but I still almost goofed.
