Toys'r'us powered by target is one of the worst things that could happen. Hello Corporate stupidity to the highest caliber. Urgh. I was so looking forward to them actually just flat up reviving the brand somehow.

    content-rich omnichannel concept

Does that mean tricking confused gift buyers and low info / tech unsavvy users into paying unnecessary markups to use whatever garbage software you have working on their jitterbugs or whatever?

Target is literally the only place I know that actually fired someone for helping customers in other sections than the ones they were assigned to. I was that person, I helped people because I was taught to help people if they needed help. Granted this was in 2002, but Target, from everything I've read across the years has not changed in what it does, or shown more competence. Case in point, their failed attempt to branch into Canada.

"Target is the only one who can help with their toy assortment." Oh what a crock, Target barely puts Megabloks out, and other things.

Toys 'R Us is coming back to the US - Sweet, awesome!

Powered by Target - Oooooooooh. Oh nooooooo. Okay, okay, this might not be bad. Maybe having dedicated stores and website they would have more stuff available.

Wonder if they had to couple with Target to try to save any bridges they burned with manufacturers/producers of toys. I know the almighty dollar talks, but they burned a lot of companies (though those companies share the fault by shipping tons of product to TRU right before they went tits).

So, they're not coming back, they're being hollowed out and worn as a Geoffrey suit. Well, better Target than Walmart in my area.

As someone who works at Target, even I find this monumentally stupid.

"Powered by Target" So it's basically Target licensing the TRU name.

Seems like Hasbro has little risk doing exclusives with TRU powered by Target, don't see why not.

I'm in, another channel to support my toy habit. :p

The site is literally a front end for Target.com. The actual toy sales happen on Target's site with no TRU branding whatsoever.

So is the Target toy section going to be converted into the Target presents: The Toys R Us toy section? This sounds like a very similar to what Target did when they outsourced Target pharmacy to CVS.

Went to the toys r us website and typed in transformers in the search bar and everything from paw patrol to monster jam came up with a few (not even modern) transformers sprinkled in there... Yikes!
I thought i was looking at target's website. :banghead:

I don’t believe so. Sounds like we (Target) are helping Toys R Us run their site until they get back on their feet enough to support the logistics of running the site on their own. B8ta is helping with brick & mortar retail ops. It’s definitely more of a “dipping the toe in the water” soft relaunch rather than full blown continuing where things left off in March 2018.

Our employer has to be making a killer deal on this or else they wouldn’t have done it.

    Soft relaunch

I literally never expected Target, I even said as much months ago in this thread, so I wouldn't expect this to last long. Target as a company only ever makes decisions that are convenient to them, sometimes even when those decisions wouldn't be convenient for their customers, so the minute that working with TRU is no longer beneficial to them it will be the end for TRU all over again.

There's never "helping" out of the goodness of the heart in big business. TRU wants a platform to front their IP and IP owned brands - after all, all the warehouses, logistics and retail fronts were all auctioned off last year. Target said we'll rent you some space in the store and online. Target is laughing all the way to the bank while the new TRU owners dither with piggybacking off of other retailers (it was Kroger pallet drops last year). Next holiday season, it'll be Menard's.

It's incredible how many "professional" storefronts can't figure out how to make searches work.
