The head sculpt is a bit off-putting. It’s not just with the misalignment at the seam. In general, it just looks like it was poorly designed.

 

Nah. I’ve had my studio series jazz since they first hit, transformed him plenty of times and he’s fine. It’s just pure dumb luck.

 

Actually like this deco more than Jazz, as I'm not generally a fan of the minimalist animation aesthetic. Plus we get Sights, and I'm a sucker for more Battlemasters.

This isn't a nostalgia thing. I have zero attachment to the ActionMaster line; by the time Hasbro got to them I was in college and (I thought) had purchased my last Transformer.

Not quite perfect. The misaligned head of course. Not so bad on my copy but still there. The yellow clips for the front wheels. Slight yellow paint/plastic mismatch, but that's about all. Oh, and against the black the Autobot logo really needs a white outline.

I was going to pass on Jackpot, but the inclusion of Sights pushed me over, and I'm glad I got him.

 

It’s actually quite nice once I saw it in three dimensions.

 

Every single close-up photo I’ve seen makes it look like the head was modified in the factory post-production. I know some people have taken theirs apart to try remedying the misalignment, but I know not everyone has. I’m wondering if they were trying to hastily correct it before the product went out and this was the best that could be done.

 

I buy that explanation.

Which is a shame, the design is pretty freaking cool, even tarnished by a major QC flub.

 

So, are all their heads messed up or?

 

I'd think so my dude. I'm gonna wait til they fix it or it drops significantly. I'd expect a discount I have to fix the head myself. I've seen it on Amazon warehouse $20 lowest.

 

Got mine today. As expected, the head is misaligned, but not nearly as bad as I’ve seen online. I’m going to pry it open with a precision knife, do some light sanding, and re-glue it together. I know we shouldn’t have to, but with it being botched all across the board, there’s no point in initiating a return.

My only complaint with this guy is the spoiler in alt mode. I wish they had retooled a smaller spoiler to set him apart from Jazz a bit.

 

As far as the head misallignment issue goes, it looks like mine is on the milder side. Some joint looseness but he stands up ok. I only wish Hasbro had the foresight to give Jazz’s gun some port or tab so it could combine with Sights into Jackpot’s sniper rifle.

 

Got mine today - I am one the milder side as well. Not sure if I want to put in the effort and try to fix it (do not want to destroy it ^^).

I think I will treat his misaligned head as a character treat. His head was damaged and the repair had to be done on the battlefield while the fight was still in progress and the medic was under really high pressure.

Did the same with my Movie 07 Payload - who came with two left hands. I always imagined him as a really clumsy character because of it. ^^

 

Been months since he's come out, has there been any reports of his backpack getting cracks like SS86 Jazz has?

 

Mine has a couple minor cracks, but nothing that seems structurally significant.

 

Has anyone received a copy with a non F'ed up head?

 

Has anyone figured out how to take apart the head and fix it?

 

I second this question, any examples of a not crappy head? Amazon has this guy on sale and the colors are tempting but that head is a travesty.

 

I took apart the head and it seemed pretty much unfixable (at least without some serious modding). Not as simple as just cutting/sanding something that's in the way, unfortunately - one half of the head is, in every way, molded to attach at that crooked angle.
