He did, yes, in LSOTW, but I don't think this is trying to be comic-accurate, just like how the Hoist retooled from the MTMTE-based Trailcutter figure doesn't seem to use Hoist's MTMTE head design.

I actually LOVE the giant flap. It's VERY in keeping with is old-school G1 toy and cartoon show look. I would have been said had they let that out. AND YOU WON'T LIKE ME WHEN I'M SAD. RRRWaaaaa.....

Over the last year, I criticized Hasbro pretty heavily for their laziness in repainting old figures to make new ones, and not creating any interesting new figures, but it seems that they're determined to make up for it this year. A figure that honestly could have gotten by with just a straight up repaint gets a VERY impressive retooling into a figure that makes a purchase of a retool appear worthwhile.

At the risk of re-iteration, I think that what they've done with the head is straight-up brilliant...really reconciles my competing desires for cartoon-accurate and toy/comic accurate heads.

Of course it's bought, I mean why the heck not? Of course, it's straight up weird that I had a Wreckers shelf planned that was a combination of GDO guys and the FoC Wreckers, but now before the FoC Wreckers even come out there are incredible Voyagers of Springer and Sandstorm causing me to rearrange...

That looks pretty awesome. When I initially heard of this I was worried that it'd resemble Springer too much, but thankfully he doesn't.

Also, for those of you who don't like the kibble flap, it looks like it can swivel 180 degrees for the car mode. So if you never liked the way he looked in G1, then you have some options there.

Perhaps. It just seems strange to me that Hasbro would go all balls-out IDW-style (right down to the IDW Wreckers comics design and Nick Roche face sculpt) with Springer, but then dial it back to geewun with Sandstorm (also a member of the IDW Wreckers). Odd choice to me, is all.

Now I'm curious what they'll redeco/retool the Blitzwing mold as. Flywheels or even Overlord seem like good contenders.

Astrotrain and Octane/Tankor could use some Voyager updates from their Deluxe Henkei/Universe days though. Ironfist needs a decent modern figure too.
