*ahem* Sky-Byte is quite nice. Hollow panels you will see, Beneath great paint apps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXn3Kjp4Ks4&feature=youtu.be
People have been bitching about this guy for a while, and I don't get it. I think he looks amazing. Really liking the complex transformation as well.
Pax you deliver yet again. Great review and Sky-byte looks pretty decent after all. He's no Springer but to be fair, who could be.
you have the best reviewing voice i've heard lol this guy's got a great transformation and good bot mode but the shark mode kills it
The thing I like about him is just how much he looks like a Masters of the Universe character in bot mode.
I agree that the paint looks good, but... Seeing this review made me pull my old Sky Byte out of the basement. Hahaha. The paint they used to use back in the day. It looks like a custom.
I think they managed to excuse him on the basis of him being an unplanned redeco. Same reason why most Universe 1.0 figures had far more paint apps than the average TF.
Yeah....the RID Sky-Byte blows this version out of the water with the paint apps. I do however find this guy to be much better than pics had me initially think. I may just hafta pick him up now if I come across him on the shelves.
Yeah, let's do go back to the past and hear a few words from Emgo about the original RiD / Car Robots Sky Byte: Youtube.com/watch?v=d0i0rdZQD2A One will notice, rather quickly, 2 very important things about our famed reviewers experience with the older version; He really loves this figure and it is a pain in the ass to transform. I remember this thing when I first got back into Transformers (around when RiD was over and Armada was just about to start). Sky Byte was every where and I was so surprised at how affordable he was. The paint work in shark mode was just fucking amazing! But I noticed a couple of things I didn't like: 1. His shark mouth was not articulated...just stayed open. 2. The shark body was in this twisted position that I knew would have a bad effect for bot mode. 3. Shark body was not articulated, it should have been. 4. Exposed hand syndrome. 5. Bot mode looked kinda messy. 6. "shark head ass" in bot mode. Thanks to Pax's careful review on the new version, I am happy to see that ALL of the 6 points that made me avoid this figure in the past were addressed. When you think about it getting a robot out of a shark is a challenge...but what we see here in the transformation of the Sky Byte looks smooth and less cumbersome. the end result (compared to the original toy) is really impressive. As Pax said, the figure is solid. The shark mode is equally nice, lack of paint apps not withstanding. First of, no dorky sculpted pose. The tail part is articulated. The mouth is articulated. Fins move as well. I like everything about this...more so than his wave mate. So to me this new version Blows the old RiD version out of the water. Thanks again for the review Pax, good job!
Cool review...kinda wish I had a place in my collection for him...might grab him to repurpose or something...

Adding my review to the thread. I like the figure a lot but the knees are a major issue. And having a stand for the figure helps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-u-fwemQ-0
