I always liked grey Galvatron because it seemed like a more natural evolution of Megatron. As for the figure itself, it scratches the G1 toy itch for me. I would've preferred if it had a darker face and yellow eyes, but it's not a deal breaker. I'm surprised they didn't market him as "Galvatron II" since it has the green matrix.

Thank gawd they didnt give him the bottle top head. Stickers are kinda ugh but whatever. What would be cool is if they would have dubbed this guy SG Galvatron.

 

This mold looks weird in these colors, like he's bulked out and wearing a tank top to show off. I suppose with Galvatron it's always sun's out, gun's out.

G1 Galvatron was weird in these colors too but the figure's build suited it better.

 

Looks ok but the purple headcrest puzzles me... all that trouble to make a G1 toy accurate version and then the only thing really off is on the focal point of the face? Meh, still pretty cool but I would take the toon version over this no contest. 

 

Why? The color scheme isnt similar at all(not to mention sg galvatron is a helicopter, but differant altmodes hasnt affected the subline so far). Naming him g1 toy galvatron, marvel comics galvatron, or galvatron ll are all valid options for this deco but SG doesnt fit

 

I'm... sticking with the retail release. Admittedly it's a fusion between the 86 toy and the comic versions, but it came out looking like one of the more bland G2 decos. I would've been okay with one or the other, but not a weird fusion.

 

Looks great, definitely getting one as the time-travelling Marvel Galvatron. But... ARGH. Why are the blasters black, not purple? I was so sure this would be the way to get Galvatron\'s ship cast in purple to use with Unicron...

That's a sticker, you don't have to apply it if you don't want it. No idea why they added that, only Energon Galvatron has that color of a crest.

 

Really could’ve benefitted from a darker face to contrast better against the grey helmet. Plus, yellow eyes.

 

G1 Galvatron's toy had a black rifle, so I think this is homaging that. We're probably getting properly colored Nemesis ships with the gridline deco Galvatron.

 

Okay, so I was originally going to skip mainline Galvatron and wait for this, seeing reviews I quickly changed my mind and now Mainline Galvatron is one of my most anticipated figures.

I was still excited for the selects version, but my first reaction was \"oh god that\'s so busy looking\". I get that it\'s toy-centric, I\'m hoping the stickers aren\'t pre-applied, and I\'ll be happy. Glitter cannon FTW. 

I\'d basically leave all the stickers off the torso/head and pick and choose on other areas.

 

But you forget, most of G1 Megatron -the toy - is chrome. That's why he was not colored grey (which would be light blue) but left as white, aka uncolored, in Marvel comics.
I never understood why they colored Galvatron in light blue and not just grey, like they did with basically any grey toy - Motormaster, Blue Streak, Swindler etc. Maybe he appeared so often, that would have been a drain on the black ink usage quota of the printer press?  

Ah yeah, forgot that one is also rumored to come. Could be, then.

 

I really hope possible toy-colour Dinobots don't have those awful stickers, one of the few things I disliked about the PotP versions.

I get it, he’s full on G1 toy, stickers and all, but that just doesn’t look that good to me. I’ll take em all off (or not apply them), but the red part of the chest is also done with stickers (and looks very segmented). They also didn’t paint his red and yellow belt.

(another minor gripe of mine would be that I’d loved to have seen an alternate head - just becauss. Preferably something IDW barbarian Galvatron inspired, but either way just something fresh.)

Meh for now. Might resolve to painting some parts, but I’d be afraid I’d mess it up.

 

In my opinion, the only reason helicopter Galvy existed in Sunbow colors was to fill a void CHUG collectors had demanded for years, a voyager Galvatron. If they had a real Galvatron mold at the time, Im sure it would have gotten an inverted deco, maybe red replacing the purple but definitely this style. I think this deco works well enough. It could pull double duty like Delta Magnus who is not only Diaclone Ultra Magnus but also SG Ultra Magnus. Screw that damn helicoptor. This is what they should use, at least for the new comic.

 

Honestly, when I first saw the cartoon and movie again I was surprised to see Galvatron was purple. Between the toy and Marvel I had completely forgotten they made him purple in it. Marvel and toy Galvatron are for more important to me than the cartoon depiction. Thus a purple Galvatron doesn't interest me, yet everyone who released one, be it HasTak or 3rd party, only released a purple version. And I absolutely do not care for the purple version.

Now, finally, there's going to be a toy coloured version. I will ignore the stickers but otherwise I'm extremely happy with this release. Now hoping it won't be too difficult to get outside of the USA, but I think Gen selects are sold by some local sellers.

How about Energon Galvatron? The regular Hasbro version was a leader, but there was also a voyager version. It pre-dates the Cybertron Evac mould and thus there was a voyager mould that actually resembles G1 Galvatron. (Of course, Botcon had a limited access to moulds, but they had used a TT exclusive mould before: BW Ravage to Botcon Tigatron.)

 

I guess I'm the only one impressed that Hasbro shows Newage how to do G1 toy decoes on modern toys.
It would be best if those stickers are not pre-applied off course, but it is pretty awesome that they include all the details of the G1 toy.
I wasn't interested in this release, but now I'm starting to kind of want it.

You can think what you like, but using the Cybertron Evac mold and redecoing it as SG Galvatron resulted in one of the best toys from that fiction.
It’s not like I never headcanoned toy colors Galvatron as a more powerful SG Galvatron who had his personality altered after being affected by the SG matrix, but what funpub did with SG Galvatron and Octopunch was loads more interesting than their usual: switch some colors around.

Meanwhile we have some trashas arguing that Ironhide and Ratchet shouldn't have faces, because that's what you're trying to do.
Source accuracy means that the toy looks like what you saw on screen or in the books.
It doesn't mean fuck what some artists meant a color to represent. What matters is what it looked like in the panels.
Marvel colors Megatron has a blue helmet and not a black one. Well, except in the later comics.
Sunbow Megatron is white and not silver.
