yep, if you look on the pulse pages for star convoy, gulf and turtler it specifically labels them takara tomy generations selects whereas all of the hasbro ones are listed as transformers generations selects. super megatron was first teased by takara alongside blacked out images of turtler and star convoy, so deductive reasoning says its part of their set. also takara tomy generations selects seem to be heavy remolds whereas hasbro ones are a new head at most. its basically two concurrently running lines with the same name, but different design goals

 

you can retool TR Soundwave into a Grandus. Just put some tank treads on his chest and give him CW Superion's head.

To better illustrate my point here's a custom I did a little while ago that I'd love to see Takara do for real

That looks pretty damn good, much better than the original use of the mould actually (and that was pretty solid I think).

Oh no, do I want Star Convoy after all? That robot mode is bloody lovely.

 

I like how the feet were retooled to hide the dinky ankle hinges.

 

Looks decent... I missed the Pulse pre-order, but I will probably pick it up through some other venue.

Still wish they had retooled the front truck windows to be angled, though. Their squareness, sandwiched in between the angled lines of the chest-star and the headlights, is so visually jarring and unappealing to me. It's like nails on a chalkboard when I look at him.

 

I know, right? I thought I'd talked myself out of this one but it looks way good, especially with the chrome.
