There are small nubs inside the top of the wing swivel that you can cut off to make the fan mode more easily achievable. It still pushes a little bit, but it’s a lot better after the mod

@Mal, @chuckcjc I think TFSafari.com still has Star Convoy in stock for $64.99 shipped to the U.S.:
Takara Tomy Generation Selects TT-GS01 Star Convoy Optimus Prime 23cm / 9"

Coupon codes to get 2% or 3% off:
    Coupon Code

Shipping notice, could take 30-50 days:
    Important Notice

I ordered mine from them back in April, and it took about a month, ~$62 shipped to the U.S. I think @WereDragon EX ordered one from them fairly recently, maybe he can chime in on it.

They have Super Megatron also for $79.99 if anyone is looking:
Takara Tomy Generation Selects TT-GS09 Super Megatron 18cm / 7"

I see. I'll keep that in mind. Thank you!

From what I've observed, the left wing on mine easily clears the rotation despite the nub being present because the connecting pin isn't driven into the socket (?) all the way, unlike with the right wing. That gives rise to a scary thought of taking a soldering iron to the pin connection to loosen it...

Having Star Convoy and Super Megatron in hand, I think both figures are a treat to handle and play around with. I was initially hesitant on getting Star Convoy since I already had PotP Nemesis Prime and thought it would be more of the same thing, but I was pleasantly surprised. Star Convoy does have his own unique feel and visual identity because of all the retooling done to him. While he still looks like Optimus in vehicle mode and not really like G1 Star Convoy, I can overlook that given that its a retool of PotP Optimus. The thing that bugged me a lot about Star Convoy was the stickers you have to apply to his trailer. I feel that unless you are ridiculously delicate or a pro at applying stickers in general, it is extremely difficult if not almost impossible to avoid at least crinkling some parts of the stickers, particularly around the edges. The stickers are also a bit wider than the gaps they are supposed to fill, which means they will never actually fit properly to begin with. I applied the stickers and could not avoid at least some edge wear on them from crinkling, but it looks more or less like the stickers on my PotP figures anyway, so it is what it is and a "necessary evil" if you choose to apply them, I guess.

Super Megatron is a very impressive figure, IMO. I love the fact that Takara went above and beyond in how much they retooled TR Galvatron to create this figure. I don't have much to add about him that hasn't already been said by others, but the face swapping gimmick is somewhat of a pain in the butt to use. I like that they added it, since it was not even necessary for the character as the new face is original to the toy and the accompanying comics. While it is a nice throwback to The Last Knight Megatron (and I actually liked TLK Megatron's face), I find that the new face doesn't really fit well aesthetically with the rest of the figure (but then again, Bayverse elements don't jive well with G1 ones anyway). Still appreciate that it's there though, for anyone who wants to make use of it.

One thing I wasn't expecting with both figures is just how much play value there is in terms of transformations and robot and alternate forms. Star Convoy has the smaller inner Optimus robot and of course, the super robot. He can transform into a tuck and trailer just like PotP Optimus, but in addition to this, the accompanying comics add a base mode for him that is reminiscent of the original G1 Star Convoy figure's base mode, and I find that rather lovely. A great throwback to that old figure. I will have to get the TR Hot Rod Titan Masters and the World's Smallest Transformers Hot Rod as well for some figures to interact with the base mode, just like the G1 Star Convoy had.

Super Megatron has three robot modes (Super Megatron, Ultra Megatron, and Ultra Megatron Omega) and two alternate modes (a tank and a jet). However, the accompanying comics add a fourth robot mode (Ultra Megatron Omega: Perfect Form) and a third alternate mode (a massive artillery battery or howitzer). I had a lot of fun transforming him and figuring out all of these forms. There's just a lot of play value with this guy that you won't know about unless you read the comics, and I find it amazing that Takara goes out of their way to still add more transformations to him (and other Generations Selects figures) that fans can utilize to get more out of their toys then they might've initially thought about.

I find it nifty that we got Star Convoy and Super Megatron around the same time as the Siege and Earthrise Optimus and Megatron figures. I feel that if you have all of them, you can use these figures to track the "evolution" of the two faction leaders. The Siege figures would represent them in the distant past as they were on Cybertron before the beginning of the G1 cartoon, where they were warring on Cybertron. The Earthrise figures are them during the present G1 continuity fighting on Earth. And the Generations Selects figures are them in the very far future, where they were resurrected in Return of Convoy/Battlestars to do battle with each other once again. And of course, Battlestars was the "final" new piece of G1 fiction chronologically (not counting Beast Wars and Beast Machines), so Optimus and Megatron ultimately returned to their roles in the end despite the Japanese fiction killing them off for a while. It's rather poetic that despite how the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons progressed, Optimus and Megatron and more or less "always there" to led the charge.

Yeah, I found it nervewrecking to remove the star piece and its red connector to flip the connector around for the fix to keep the star from popping off of the chest and then reattaching the whole assembly, since I was afraid I'd break it. I still find it a little nervewrecking to transform the figure as well because of the star and moving it around, especially the part where you have to push the star through the chest hollow to ensure that it ends up on the front of the big super robot mode. That part of the transformation bugs me, since you need to push the red connector all the way down on the bottom of the chest and bend the star piece back where it attaches to the connector to give it enough clearance to go through the chest cavity.

I didn't experience the matrix being loose when fitted between the guns for my copy of Star Convoy, so maybe I got lucky on that front. I also have PotP Nemesis Prime, but as mentioned, I didn't need to swap guns as there was no issue here.

The legs on my copy of the smaller robot do occasionally pop off, but floor polish fixed the issue somewhat. Not a big deal though.

I'm afraid I won't be of much help here, since I didn't use the free shipping option. I picked the fast shipping option and got my Star Convoy within about 10 days. I figured that it wasn't too much more expensive and I needed some other stuff in the same order ASAP for a friend.

Yeah, the face swapping feature is a bit of a pain in the butt to swap the faces and headband around. A word of caution, try not to touch or rub against the Super Megatron tampograph on the middle of his forehead when swapping the handband around. It will likely wear off if touched directly too often. I checked the head of the figure and there is some space between the headband and the back of the helmet (where the headband and face NOT being displayed in front is hidden) so paint scrapping for the tampograph and the red spot on the forehead should not be an issue. You can push the headband off to the side of the tampograph and once the side with the red spot comes into view, push your fingernail against the raised edges of said red spot to fully flip the headband in the desired configuration.

Huh, I always just wiggled or pulled the triple-barreled cannon out of the fusion cannon without issue. Didn't realize that the accessory was fragile and thin. Will keep these tips in mind for next time then.

I've become more interested in getting super Megatron, I recall seeing pics and reading reports of breakage. What part of him is fragile?

Somebody gave the heads up that Super Megatron is back up on Pulse. I was finally able to order one last night for $60 plus tax and shipping. That’s a hell of a lot better than the $110 TFSource is selling him for. Plus grabbed an ER Megs for my son’s bday later this month.

@WreckerImpactor Man you better hurry! There's only 8 left on Hasbro Pulse for MSRP:
Transformers Takara Tomy Generations Selects TT-GS09 Super Megatron – Hasbro Pulse

I transformed mine a few times and if you handle with care you should be fine. I think some of the paint might rub/scratch off if you aren't careful when switching the faces/foreheads.

I guess the shoulder wings might be kind of delicate, so handle with care. The fusion cannon, you might want to be careful with also (but I always use a plastic spudger when loosening up connections on my Transformers, so that's just how cautious I am).

Perhaps somebody else can chime in as I've only had a glorious time with mine.

    Just got my Super Megatron.

Does anyone have a problem with the right bicep swivel where the cannon goes? It seems overly-stiff and I can't rotate it, I'm afraid I could break it.

The black tampograph on the Super Megatron forehead also seems to wear off easily if touched or rubbed too much, so I'd avoid directly touching it when swapping the foreheads around.
