Assume this will be on Pulse? Has that been announced?

 

Star Convoy and the Seacons are on Pulse, so this guy being available on there eventually as well is a pretty safe bet.

 

preorders dont open till the 8th, pulse put all of the takara selects up shortly after preorders went up on ttmall (except the last 2 seacons which had an abnormally long delay), so id expect pulse preorders to go up in the next 2 weeks

 

That King Poseidon "fan mode" sure likes like the original Megazord's Tank mode

You never know. Takara likes to surprise. On the other hand, and I don't know what the culture is like in Japan, but (a) maybe there isn't a big enough market for a gun Megs and (b) Takara might also want to avoid any controversy from that.

Takara has been on a hardcore "updating old G1 stuff" roll for the last couple of years, so they might bite the bullet (pun intended) and give us an updated G1 gun Megs. Or, they go along with the Hasbro Protocol and pretend gun Megs never existed (except for his bot mode design).

At this point I am not surprised by any moves Takara makes. No one thought we'd get Star Convoy, King Poseidon or Super Megatron updates five years ago but here we are!

 

I dig the look of this. Admittedly don’t love the headsculpt, but it’s not bad.

Don’t necessarily need this, but there is a massive Megatron sized hole in my collection as the siege frankly sucks and the earthrise one isn’t an improvement. Maybe I’ll end up getting this

 

As a lot of you already said, he looks nice but he needs to not be held back by the headmaster/mask gimmick.

 

I don't mind if he is a headmaster as long as they rework the supremely unsuccessful mask. The pic we saw doesn't look like he has the mask if he is a headmaster. Really like how this figure looks and I plan to get it, but not sure how he will fit into my collection.

 

by all appearances he doesnt look to be a headmaster. instead it looks like you can remove his helmet and turn the head around for different super/ultra megatron faces and then the helmet goes back on

takara generations selects are remolds, not new molds, so they wouldnt do a generations selects gun megatron because an accurate gun megatron cant be made from sixshot or shockwave.

 

You're probably right and that's fine by me. Just saying that I was pretty happy with the Galvatron mold minus that ridiculous mask gimmick.

 

yea, the mask was the biggest downside of it, 2nd biggest was the position of the arm cannon

 

Yeah the cannon placement was not ideal, but we don't get many Galvatrons, so that was easier for me to look past.

 

Pretenders Bumblebee is in one panel, I wonder if that's the next level after Earth rise. Just saying, since they already did headmasters.

I doubt it, the shells would either mean that the deluxe class core figures would have to be legends size, or there just wouldn't be a deluxe class, with voyager being deluxe figure + pretender shell.

 

Been honest i would really like an anime series with this 2 guys how long we have been without a real transformers anime the last one 2005 cybertron , wfc ane prime wars are american series, why takara cant do an anime with this guys an another bunch of repaints or retools

 

This already looks infinitely better than Galvatron.

EDIT: I think I figured out where the Ultra Megatron missile launcher comes from. The Super Megatron cannon has hinges on either side and looks like it splits down the middle to reveal the missile rack.

 

I wouldn't have expected that, but if so, I could see a Monstructor set as the next Titan. While a six-bot CW-style set wouldn't justify a Titan price, the Pretender shells would boost the cost to about the same as Omega Supreme. There'd be some heavy retooling for the torso-bots (or would they go with new molds?), but the limbs are pretty simple retools. We've already seen Wildfly's head out there.

An excuse to boost the price? I think you just sold them on it.  

 

They don’t do that kinda stuff in their fiction. They don’t do hints of upcoming toys that arnt announced. It’s sakamoto being sakamoto. He throws that stuff everywhere. They’re just fun Easter eggs. Put him next to Black Zarak doublecross repaint, T30 metroplex painted like metrotitan and the three autobot targetmasters in TR bodies and all the other stuff that was in the Manga
